Default What makes a wastegate go bad?

Cause I think I have one that's going bad.

This is in my S4... which has 2 KKK K-03 Turbos.

On boost, it screaches from 2k rpm to 4k rpm, and then quiets down.

So, what would make a wastegate go bad?

Thanks for the semi-OT!

your wastegate screeches for 2k RPMS?
WTF?

I do not comprehend.
the only thing that would happen when your waste gate goes bad is you would boost too much or too little.

This is what I've heard from other people when I say what the screaching does.

But yes, the sound only happens between 2 and 4k RPM's... With no boost, it is perfectly quiet.

With no boost it should be quiet as it isn't opening up.

Audi's have internal WG's (well when I last had my 5000 CD turbo )

If its an S4 i'd just take it to the dealer as its probably still under warranty.

Did this only start to occur recently or been ongoing?

Yes, It's just happened recently...

I have an appointment at the stealership tomorow.

I'm just trying to learn about them.

The bad part (or good for me part) is that they are internal waste gates. So they have to replace the turbo to replace the waste gate. Well, if they do that, then they have to replace both turbos, because they have to be paird up!

That would break my heart to get two new turbos...
