The 3000GT is heavy car and eats brake parts for lunch on track, even with the Big Reds.

Anybody think that the water cooling of the rotors might have helped in their destruction? I know if you take hot glass and put ice in it it will likely break.

Haha, have you seen how much they cost? ATS front carbon rotors and pads for the ITR $4000 and for the Skyline / 350Z Track $5300... http://www.a-t-s-usa.com/ats-product...n-brakes.shtml

I've seen something like this on Mustangs with the Ford Motorsport big brake kit a couple of years ago. Except the rotor would not break in pieces but simply come undone from the hub and hang there freely like a ring. It turned out to be a manufacturing flaw with a batch of Brembo rotors used in the kit.... Scaaary ****...

Depends on how much is taken off...

For $25 a rotor it's probably wiser to just buy new ones. Sure you can argue maintenance/longevity/etc. all day...but in the end is YOUR SAFETY worth $25? $50?...

I don't turn rotors on street cars! NEVER on a track car and Honda rotors are CHEAP. Replace them. I know guys that turn new rotors down to min. just to save weight and discard after the race because they are shot. To me thats nutz.
