Has anyone sent their head to JG?
Im about to send a spare d16y8 head off to JG for the $700 treatment, but before I send it I wanted to hear some opinions on them first. What cam would be a good mate to their single comp springs with stock inner ones and the T-7075 aluminum retainers? How is performance compared to stock, quality of workmanship, was it worth it overall, etc..? Any and all opinions are welcome....

Do a search on JG. They have a pretty bd reputation on this site. I would not send my **** to them. Too much negative stuff posted about them. They lurk this board sometimes and they didn't do much to clear their name. Good Luck

As to why, you'd have to ask him yourself. I'm not privledged to give that information out. Sorry.

In my opinion, JG is the winningest race engine builder out there. They have been builing the world's fastest honda motors since day 1 of import performance. half the guys in were still in kindergarden when JG was making 400+hp sohc turbo motors back in the 80s. Go to Jg.
With all that said, why are they so horrible? For $700 they port and polish, throw in comp valve springs, valve job, mill the head and hot tank. At Portflow, they do all that, DON'T include valvesprings and charge $900. Seems a little steep to me...
Most of the negativity has been toward JG blocks. I havent found anything about JG heads. How much can you **** up on a head anyways? Any head opinions?
dont go bullfrog. those head combos dont work at all. if you look at the dyno proven numbers they show a stock gsr making 127whp thats bs. then with the head work it makes 165ish...thats like mild bolt ons with a gsr. plus i have heard that some of the heads are rebuilds from damaged heads...not something i want.
but for the origional post i have heard that they flow well...but dont make great power in comparison to portflow

Direct. It is in my friends GS-r'd HB and it consistanly pulls solid 13's w/ a medium grade street port. Call around Socal shops and you'll get varied responses depending on who they prefer, that maybe what it gets down to....Preference. I believe most well known names have similar performance results, keep in mind, they're all in the same arena
we sent out 1 head to them... and a block. the head was a sohc. when it came back to us, valve was bent. and they didnt take responsibility. sent them the head to do again, and they never sent it back to us. to this day, they duck our calls. and Javier was always in a 'meeting' or thier answering maching would always get our calls. even when we left a message, they's never call back.
my buddy's block was supposed to come to us closed deck... it wasn't... it was supposed to be painted red, came to us Black. the sleeves were gapped. the cd-rom that was sent with the motor... showing his block being put together... wasn't even pictures of his block. so we packed it up and sent it back, in the same container and packaging. when they got it. they claimed it was damaged in shipping. they blamed us for our shipping methods. and they kept his $3000.
we no longer do business with them. the only good thing about JG... is the stuff with edlebrock following the 'JG.' in my honest opinion... i would never do business with JG engine dynamics.

If you want headwork go to Portflow. Simple as that.
