Tech Days?
I know this is a technical website, and we have certain days designated as H-T Meets, but do we have Tech Days? Days where people meet up to do things to their cars or need help and want to ask questions? These days are usually for working and helping out people who aren't as experienced as some of your guys.
Meets are usually social events, whereas a Tech Day would be a day to help people out. If we don't have them, why not make one in so cal?
I need to clean up my engine bay and disconnect/reconnect a bunch of wires, but i am a lil scared that i'd be doing something a tad bit wrong.
Do we have tech days? TIA

I dont think it would be too hard to do. If everyone brings some tools to share i think it would be pretty fun. Maybe install something or perform some minor yet difficult tasks that would be easier with the help of some h-t buddies like bleed a clutch, or brake system etc.
a friend of mine from a 240sx forum told me he had these. And his forum is pretty small compared to ours. Most of my friends aren't as experienced as I am, [which does state A LOT, because i'm not experienced. lol]. I can get a 6 pack [or 12...heh] if someone's willing to throw me a bone...someone with knowledge like spade.
Tech Days? Crap, I hate it when I work on my car and I have a gang of people floatin around. Just looking. It gets on my nerves and they get in my way.
1 or 2 people REMOTELY close is fine with me. But not a big classroom.

I for one volunteer, I need to do a tranny swap on my hx, dropping in a si tranny, its already to go. I would be willing to host something at my house in exchange for the knowledge, pretty much you tell me what to do and i'll do the grunt work. But I do agree not too many people. I'm in so cal, and it would be cool to meet some faces, Spade, who have helped online so much. Plus if anyone has an engine hoist that would really help.
okay, see that helps already, lol, anyway I find I learn more when someone tells and I do the work, it just sticks better since you're the one doing it, plus I know we all have out special shortcuts for things that others may not have figured, and those you cant usually read about in any manual
You only need a hoist if your'e wAnKsTa. j00 hear me? All you really need is to support the weight of the block once it tilts. Get a 2x4 piece of block and place that between the oil pan area and the floorjack.

15 people sounds good to me, is anyone up for my project? If so we can then pick another car/project, maybe like once a month or so, it's nice to have friends IRL from HT...lol
the small group and bunch of knowledgeable people will help keep the learning hands-on and personal.
all we need is some really smart guys now...
There's beer in it for you guys...
