JE 11.5:1 cr pistons...
Can anyone think of a reason not to drop these into a sleeved H22 block? Don't worry about me running nitrous on it. I'll hook up a fuel cell for 100 octane if I can't get it to run on the bottle and 93 octane at the same time.
Just from what I've heard when I was contemplatin H22 pistons into H23....
11.1 you can spray, but be careful. Most people recommended not to spray over a 75 shot, to be safe. 11.5 I know you COULD spray, but noone was recommending it w/o careful tuning, and I'm guessin the shot would need to start small. That's all I know!

i used to have 11.5:1 compression SRP's (JE shelf piston) in my ls/vtec. The quality was good and they were nice pistons. But at the time i didnt know that totalseal rings and JE pistons didnt get along well. A peice of the totalseal broke off into the combustion chamber and completely raped my engine. I never really had a chance to fully enjoy the motor, but i say to go for the pistons... i just recommend staying away from totalseal rings.
Nitrous loves compression.
But remember that your tuning window is that much smaller. What do you have in terms of fuel/ignition mods?
And is this on stock rods? In the situation that you encounter severe detonation, the pistons might survive...but those rods can bend.
Go for it...but just be VERY careful on the tuning. You do have an assortment of gauges to monitor your engine, correct?

Why are yall telling me to run a small shot on a high compression motor and that my tuning window will be small? I know that already. Besides I have no problem running two fuel systems if necessary.
What I am concerned about is the piston dome and the valves skullfucking each other and whether or not it will detonate itself to hell on 93 octane.
Yes, forged rods will be used.
Thanks for the tip about the total seal rings.
Edit: No gauges as of yet. I am just starting to plan my build up. I'll have run out of things to modify on my car after this spring, so I'll be picking up a new motor when money becomes available again.

ok, apparently Wiseco is the only one making forged pistons that you do not have to re-sleeve, HOWEVER, JE pistons do require re-sleeving
i'll go easy on you this time laughinxxx, but, *cough*this is one of those type of questions that has been covered*cough*

I did a search and wasn't happy with the information that I received.
I ran Custom Arias 11.5:1 pistons for the H23 VTEC...
tuned on 94 octane. What specifically are you looking for here? I wasn't spraying so I can't add to that discussion unfortunately

laughinxxx: i have a friend looking to sell his Saturn and buy a 91 model Accord and H22 swap. anyways, he likes nitrous, and wants to spray the H22, he called me a few minutes ago and asked me how big of a shot eh could use safely, i told him that i was pretty sure you were running over a 100 shot on you stock engine... correct me if i am wrong, but please, some good infor on you previous/current setup would be nice.

I'm not spraying a 100 shot yet. If he wants to send me a Walboro 255 in tank fuel pump I'll test it out for him, because I know it will hold at least a 100 shot.

It looks like you have everything figured out. If you don't know if there will be valve/piston contact...I think you should contact the piston manufacturer for their specifications concerning valve reliefs and such. 11.5:1 CR probably wouldn't have a high enough dome to bring up such concerns. BUT, for peace of mind, you can clay the piston for clearances. (Labor intensive, but atleast you'll be CERTAIN)
And yes, you can run this on 93 octane...nothing less.

Thank you for disclosing all of that info AFTER your ambiguous title and first post.

Id stay with a 11 to 1 piston, you got such a nice bottle setuop why waste it......leave it so you can spray a 100 shot or do your dual stage thingy....besides, 11:1 is just fine for all motor too......
