I have a 5th gen... and apparently the strangest thing happened today. I couldn't open my trunk using my key, however it will open when i use the latch inside the car. The key turns, but when i checked the mechanism on the opposite side of the trunk, there is this loose piece of plastic not connected to anything. Therefore when i turn the key, nothing happens. Is there supposed to be some type of chord/cable that is attached to this plastic which causes the trunk to open when i turn the key?? Something missing here?

 

if it is the piece i am thinking of, there should be a small rod type thing that is connected the the whit piece.... i am not exactly sure, but if i can remember, i will look at my trunk mechanism sometime tomorrow and let you know

 

yeah that little piece is grey and its like a lever...but its not attached to anything? where did that rod thingy go?!?! i searched my trunk and nothing?!?! ill take a picture of it tommorow.

 

NM PRObLEM IS FIXED , i dug around and saw the rod stuck in the trunk.. attached it ... now it works

wow! i thought I was the only one that hit this prob. I was trying to put down my back seat to take it out.. and it wouldn't unlatch! Damn that hooked S thingy design!
