When i try to start my car when its cold, it turns over for a second and then just dies unless i give it gas and hold it for about a min at 2000 rpms. Does anyone know why it does this and know how to fix it?

sounds like a crank/run switch.....your car will always crank if given atleast a/f and spark but you have a series parralell circuit in your ignition system when cranking the engine it will switch to the run circuit your run circuit has a fuseable link in it if thats bad or has like a small open or short to ground it could give you complications in say a cold condition as you stated.....
thats like the worse scenario.....it could just be a bad carbon point in the cap....a going out igntion module or just a bad rotor.....
sounds like its a spark problem though......
have you messed with the timing at all?

Sounds like some type of cold start fuel enrichment problem to me. I'm not sure what our cars use to adjust the idle for warm up, but it could be a coolant sensor or some type of "Bypass Air Control Valve" (what the part is called on an RX7). Basically it allows air to bypass the throttle plate to increase idle for warm-up and when additional load is present. (AC / power steering) Also what type of management system are you using for your LS/VTEC? That might be the cause of it if you haven't tuned your computer properly...
