battery light is on!?!? help
I went to autozone, where I picked up my alternator about 3 months ago. I started to hear a clicking from the alternator after a hard winter. I figured that water worked its way into the alternator. After 4 days of dry weather the sound went away, now my battery light comes on when I am driving.
The battery is 3 months old as well, and autozone checked it and I am getting a full charge and the alternator is reading 14 or 145 (cant remeber)
The weird thing is the light goes away at stoplights and turns on when I am driving, this is quite confusing for me. The harness is connected firmly to the alternator, and I brushed off my terminals as well.
The only thing differnt I did to the car was install a tach, which I wired as instructed, except I grounded it to the ground wire on the back of my CD player, since I couldnt find a good ground around the gauge cluster
Is there anyway that grounding the tach to the black wire on my CD player cause my battery light sensor to miss read???

Faulty alternator is my guess....
when they tested it @ 14 volts, was it at idle? Did they rev the engine?
When it get's dark check the brightness of yer head lights at idle, and see if they get brighter when you drive off.
I'm thinking the voltage regulator is shot and overcharging.

thats the thing, at idle it was reading 14 or 14.5 at idle, but we didnt rev it. i thought most cars the light would come on at idle and go away when you are driving
