do ef's seem more popular now?
Does it seem to you guys that the EF hatchback is making a come back? In my area everyone thought it was the ugliest hatch ever and now it seems as though everyone is looking for one. Why is that? Do you guys thank that our car is becoming the trendy new Honda?
Disclaimer- I’m sitting here bored at work and I just thought about how everyone is looking for an EF now so I just wanted to hear your thoughts.

I don't think more people are going to want them. They're getting up in age and rusty and their engines are getting miles on em. But who knows? I know I
mine.
mine.
i dont think they have ever lost there popularity.wel not in my arear anyway.i've had a4th gen hatch since 94 and they were already poplular back then.
as soon as i got mine and made it look good and go mildly fast, everyone that had a ride in it wanted one......and 3 guys actually bought one too......these things are contagious
well, they are well loved by owners of them, but I think one of the biggest factor's is that they are relatively cheap compared to other hatches, keep in mind I'm talking hatches. now, the rex on the other hand is just loved all around & has had a following forever.

They were always poping here..although style has changed. when i was in hs my sophmore year the best car at mys kool was a dark gray dx hatch with rims and a system and lowered...that was in like 95..styles have changed..I think eg's have the most folowing for hatch's..ek's for coupes..and ef love is crx for most..i still like the ef/ed hatch just dont think they will be worth much due to the styling
Ef has been my favorite since I saw my first one in '90. They seem to be well liked around here, but 3rd gen hatches are a dime a dozen here too though. I'm buying an EG eventually because fitment for engine swap's is less of an issue. I'd like to be able to just bolt a B-series in with out banging in the frame rails.
some probably like the EF because they're "old school"
but seriously, they're lightweight, cheap, and can be made fast for a lot less money than newer cars

i love mine cause its just Old school.there's just something about going old school that i like cause no one really has it..and when someone recognizes an old school fad its makes them tingle inside cause it reminds them of good times..also its different from 17" rims..buddy club kits and black widow sides with sparco seats everywhere...just my $0.02
Well I own a 1990 STD hatch (it was my first car back in 1995 - handed down from my Mom who was the original owner) and I'm building a SOHC motor for it currently.
I also own a 1992 CX hatch with a B18C5 swap so I have a somewhat different perspective on the whole EF-EG thing.
I think a lot of people "settle" for the EF when looking for an EG. Call me an ***, but here in the ATL area we have a shitload of hybrid-would-bes that are just too impatient to find a good EG to build on, so they fall back on the 1988-1991 Civic instead.
I personally pefer the EG style Civic (I've been over his in great detail a long time ago) but I do love my EF.
I think the EG is easier to make faster, and there are more options with the EG IMO. EGs accept hydro trannies or cables with much ease, Hondata plugs in, etc. Anything and everything DC Integra bolts in with no "kits", etc.
First-gen B16A swaps are too much of a gamble IMO, and some run great and some run slower than the D16Z6 swaps - too bad this is the easiest and most common swap for the EF.
...but as far as the EF being more popular now, I think it's all about perspective. I saw at least 15 EG hatches at the ATL H-T meet and maybe 5 EFs including CR-X and Civic hatches.

it still cost about as much as a b16a2 swap for a eg than a b16a swap for a 88-91 Si..since b16a with cable trans and ecu vs a b16a2 with hydro trans...I think it is a lil cheaper to get in to a dx hatch..but a crx Si usualy cost about as much as a 92-93 dx,cx,or vx hatch in my area
EF Hatches/CRX's that are Si's are super rare to find around here. If you see one in good shape its usually sold in a day. I have been looking for a year or 2 for a CRX Si and couldnt find any or any in good shape. So I settled for a G2 Integra. "my second choice". Ef hatches are pretty popular around here, people like to steal them to!
Because everyone copied me
DUH!!
Naw, but seriously, they're the most go-carty (is that a word? it is now) and simple to work on...cheapest, so when you rip out the interior and cut holes in your headliner you don't feel as bad...just good quality, good looking, and cheap to work/learn on. That's why i bought mine at least.
