Default Exhaust for a B16B

I am looking into dropping a B16B into my 98 EK hatchback. I know I need a new exhaust to go with it. Can anyone give me some suggestions? I still want to keep it on the quiet side.

Trav.

obviously, you'll need a b series header and cat, a midpipe (either t1r, 99-00si), any axle back.. my mugen TL is very quiet.

Whats wrong with a b16b? Just cuz it has no Tq doesn't mean its a bad motor!

I didn't say it's a bad motor, it's just that you can get a ITR engine, have more power, and save a little money.

In sort.... Why Pay More For Less?

jk....don't use an Apex N1 muffler....they are too loud. use a magnaflow or something that sounds like stock but still flows well...

How did I know that this would turn into a "b16b's suck, get a b18c5" thread???

Christ--if the b16b was good enough to go in the Civic Type R, then it's good enough to go in trav's EK!!!

Tell me, which you would choose. The b16b or the b18c ITR? I personaly would get the ITR engine. If I was in it for the mad JDM "eww look he has a Civic typeR engine" to be cool then i guess i would go for the b16b. I don't care what he does but if he wants to be fast i think he would be better off with the ITR engine.

yeah you and me both, gambino. why oh why do so many people harsh that motor? it has one of the best heads and set of internals around, plus a great tranny. bah they're all haters! I'd take one in an instant! you can always go 2 liter later on too, that would be sick!

back to the original question, an Apexi WS is the way to go unless you are thinking of having a muffler shop set you up with custom piping. Also there was a guy in the bestbuys or FI classified running a good special on true mandrel bent piping and exhausts, check that sheeeeeet out too

Don't ge me wrong i would take on in a second too. It's an awesome engine, i never said it wasn't. All i was saying is that the ITR engine has more power out of the box. Anyway, i'm done.

What kinda exhaust do you want. Something quiet, moderate, loud, ect.....? This will help us answer your question.

Honestly, I'd have no problem taking either. Either one would be an improvement over my B16A (which is just fine thank you very much ).

As for the actual question, Mugen TL is very hard to go wrong with except for the price.

After hearing the Apex WS on a B16A (w/ CTR pistons/Skunk1 cams) on a dyno, I have respect for that exhaust. It's actually quieter than my TL!!! The Mugen has a nicer tone, but the WS is sooooo quiet. A teeny bit tinny, but QUIET.
