Default Y8 intake mani install, but i have one problem *HELP*..... *pics*

Ok, i took out the A6 intake manifold and compare it side by side with my manual version y8 intake manifold. Well, i noticed that my A6 manifol had this metal sensor. What should i do with this thing???? Here are some pics what i'm talking about.

Here is the d16a6 intake mani, that is the sensor location what i'm talking about

Here is the metal thing that was attach to the a6 mani.. What is this thing hmm?

Here is my progress so far.

So what do i have to do with the metal sensor thing? The d16y8 mani doesn't have one. I need help!

thats the fast idle solenoid valve (look on vacuum diagram under hood). from what ive heard you just leave it unpluged and it shouldnt throw a code. at least i hope not cause thats what i plan on doing when my y8 manifold finally goes in.

where did you mount your IAT sensor?

I see, and i heard that thing too, but we need to get more feedback about this. Since, you are doing this swap too. For the IAT sensor, i would tap under my intake tube. I talked to another h-t member who got the same set-up and what he did is he tapped under he's intake tube. Here is the pic. He said no problem so far and it's not throwing any codes.

yeah, i am just going on what others have said so far. but there really isnt any place to mount that fast idle, so i sure as hell hope it doesn't need it. thanks for the pic of the IAT. once i figure out what cam i want to get i will finally get started on the swap.

are you using the Y8 TB? it looked like a pain in the *** to extend the wires from the MAP. i got a 90 B18A TB (58mm vs 56mm Y8). its set up the same as the A6 TB with the vacuum line to the MAP and all the charoal canister crap too.

I got the same TB as your lol, and yes the map and vacuum line are the same. I have to get some good wires to extend my IAT sensors too.

its alot easier that way...you only have to run wires for the IAT. im hopeing that moving the IAT doesn't make it run any richer. since the intake air will be cooler in the intake tubing instead of in the far end of the manifold itself. i dont know how much cooler though. but also it seems the the O2 sensor would have its hand in adjusting the AFR too. but i am not 100% on the computations that the ECU does for this, too many sensors and too many variations. plus i am not an engineer with honda, i am just a janitor with an BS in engineering here in unemploymentville new york

ok, i plan on using this manifold also. i've never heard of having to 'tap' the IAT sensor in??? What exactly do you mean by tap and what exactly is the IAT sensor??? I have a manual IM and my car is an 89 crx si manual. do i still need to do this IAt thing?

that picture is my car .. you dont need wire to extend it.. just unwrap the loom and pull out the wire and run it back to the air filter housing. a little time consuming but pretty easy.

as far as the fast idle solenoid, i left mine plugged in but just zip tied it to some random bracket in the engine bay.
