My hatch 0WNED! me tonight...please help
My car has been making a weird ticking noise as of lately and i should have got it checked up on but the performance was strong and normal so I was putting getting it checked out until later this week. I havent misshifted or anything like that ever. As I was driving to work today the sound just kept getting worse and louder as the farther I drove and then it just began to stall unless I was constantly on the gas. So by this point I was really getting worried and all of a sudden I heard a pop and my car backfired like crazy and wouldnt start back up so I pulled over. As I was pulled over I noticed underneath my car there was a little puddle nothing to big of something that looked like oil and alot of smoke everywhere when I popped the hood. So then I got it towed to my shop and its waiting to get checked out tommorow. Could you guys please tell me what you think the problem is because im really worried

Sounds like you blew your engine. Swap time!
EDIT: BTW...the main thing that determines your engine life is keeping the oil changed...sure not hitting the rev limiter and racing all the time will help...but if you keep getting your oil changed at 2,500 miles, get a tune up here and there, and dont abuse it...your honda will last forever

umm...I already have a swap. But when it happend no cel was on and I didnt misshift or anything so I dont know how the motor could have blown. Is there anything else that could be wrong with it other than a blown engine?

if theres oil, you could have thrown a rod. It sounds like you slipped some teeth, but that is symptoms of tossin a rod..
Could someone please elaborate more on what peagreenhatch said.
there is no way to know 100% that the motor is blown or totaled unless you take it to a professional because, no offense, you dont sound like you are capable of diagnosing a blown engine.
but it sounds like you snapped a rod and it went through the block (puddle, and backfire noise)
you need to take it to a mechanic ASAP because odds are
the engine is toast.

That sounds exactly like what happened to my 93 hatch when I bought it and the outcome looked like this:
This is the hole in the front of the block, look between the header tubes:
This is the hole in the back of the block, twice the size as the one in the front:
So my professional opinion is that yes, you did grenade the motor!
Look on the bright side, you can now do a swao!

damn...turns out my timing belt slipped and the piston rod went straight through the block and I most likely bent some valves also but that isnt for sure yet. The thing is I have a b18c1 with je12:5:1 pistons and eagle rods. What damage could have been done to the head except for bent valves? im pretty sure the head can be rebuilt but the block is toast. Anybody have any ideas on what to do now? Should I buy a ls block and build an lsvtec or maybe even a b20vtec or should I just get another c1 block and build that up again. Im sorta on a tight budget now so which would be the best thing to do.
Yes, it was my 12 second all motor daily driver. Of course im pissed and heartbroken but what can I do, Im not gonna dwell in the past whats done is done and nothing to do but just move on. Now its time to build it even better and badder.
what else do you have done to your car? my buddy has a JDM b18c with 12.5:1 forged slugs and eagle rods with boltons and limited slip. IM b19civicHB if you wanna chat him up.
told you man, I knew you blew it up. BTW, sorry to hear about your luck bro.
thats exactly what happened to me, and i threw a rod.
on my for racing a car with 221,000 miles, and the original clutch. but, now i have a cool looking piston in my room. ha

is this common with high compression street motors? right now im aimed towards LSVTEC and was thinking about using b16 pistons for a high compression but not so high as the CTR pistons.....maybe i should still with ITR pistons? any input? and my car would be daily driven too, alot
