If you run 15 inch tires on a del Sol, will this put you in a higher class (ie street prepared)

stock class rules for wheels - same diameter and width as stock, +/- 1/4" (6.25mm) in offset (spacers ok).

If 15" wheels were an option, then thats ok as long as the width is the same.

 

As I recall, the requirement for SCCA is *factory* option, for stock classes. Dealer option doesn't count.

 

Del Sol VTECs had 15s standard. I believe you could get 15s as a factory option ont eh others as well.

 

Ah, but is the Del Sol VTEC in the same class as the D-series Del Sol? Anybody know?

No. But even if it was, it wouldn't matter. No update/backdate exists in Solo Stock. You would have to turn your Del Sol into a 100% factory correct Del Sol VTEC for that to be legal.

 

Incroect all VTEC Del sol came with the same 14 inch rims that the Si's did.

 

Almost correct. VTEC del Sols came with 14x6 wheels, while Si del Sols came with 14x5.5 wheels.

 

just to point out, your would not be in STS. The del sol does not have back seets right? thus can't run in STS. STS is for 4 person cars.

15" wheels will put you in either Street Prepared (not sure C or D?), Street Mod 2, or D Modified.

 

Are you positive? For 1994, at least, http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com shows only the steelies and 14x5.5 on their diagram and parts list.

 

I have heard that once before but i dont know if it is true.

BTW, in 1995, the SI and VTEC got new wheels

 

Almost correct. DOHC VTEC del Sols only came with 14x5.5's throughout their entire model run.

Hmmm, guess I could be wrong. I'd swear I'd seen a set and they were 14x6, but I don't have a set, so maybe I'm wrong
