things to do when swapping B16A into DA's
I am getting a complete B16A 1st gen. motor from passwordjdm for $1339. When installing this in my DA what other things do I need to change, for e.g. belts, pumps, wires, plugs, etc????????
if your going to do the swap you should consider this since you already have the motor out of the car. you might want to save up a little extra and have the head ported and polished. and while it is apart have the pistons freshened up by this i mean have them removed, hone the block and put in new bearings and rings (or go with type r pistons). also one thing that i would MAKE SURE I change before i put the motor and tranny in is to replace the clutch, pressure plate, and the flywheel (light weight). the reason i say this is because it will be a hell of a lot easier to do this while the engine is out. Basically if you wnat to build a performance motor i wwould just buy the motor and as you get the money put the speed parts on it while it is on the engine stand. teh reason i say this is that if you do it this way you are more likely to put stuff together easeier and alot neater and more complete if it is out of the car than in the car. what i am saying is buy the motor put it on an engine stand and buy your header, intake manifold, cams, cam gears, port and polished blolck worked. if you do this you will be much happier and the work will all be done when you put it in. but if you choose not to take this advice just make sure you clean the engine (gunk engine cleaner) and the engine compartment. nothing looks worse than a new engine that is all dirty and its in a dirty engine coplartment. and what i mean by clean is with the engine cleaner a tooth brush and a water hose. (make sure you cover the distributor cap. if you have any questions just drop me a line.
