Aftermarket pedals
My stock pedals are wearing down and I'd like to get more grip and make the gas pedal a little higher so heel-toe is easier. Now (and I feel bad for even mentioning the name), I can get APC pedals for dirt cheap ($12 a set minus whatever employee discount I have on them) and would add "skateboard tape" which shouldn't be terribly expensive and will increase grip.
How is the construction of them? They are just pedals, so APC can screw that up too much, right?
Also, how is the mounting of them? They look as if they're held on by some small screws. I could modify them with larger screws, but would rather not.
We all seem to know atleast one person who some form of APC on their car so I thought I'd ask you guys. Any input for a guy on a budget?

if the pedals have little bars that wrap around the back of the stock pedal and clamp down on it, skip em. they are always trouble. sparco has a few actual bolt in models. little more 'spensive, but far superior.

Defintetly get pedals that mount via bolts/screws. I simply took a set of Matrix ones from a friend, took off all the hardware (and the color inserts), and mounted them with bolts through the pedal. They do the same thing as all the other brands, and are solidly mounted. I'll eventually get a set of nice pedals, once I get out of college.
I was just looking at those Sparcos and the OMP ones. I think I'm going to go to AutoZone or someplace and take a look at the APC ones and then make my decision. Thanks for the help.

I've seen some webpages that show you how to make your own pedals. granted, they aren't exactly pretty -- very rectangular, no "soft" edges, no real shape, etc. -- but i'm sure they work alright. plus, you can size them correctly for your feet for the almight heel-and-toe.on a side note, i use some $20 pedals i got off the internet, and they clamp rather than bolt. I have yet to have a problem because i literally tightened down the screws so much that the metal bar bends.
No problems for the 2 years i've had them. I like the bolt kind better, though, like Sparco pedals. But i'm afraid they'll become really slippery after you've been walking in the rain and what not. IS300 pedals are like sparcos, and a few auto rags complained about slippage when they get wet.

Why not just get some stocks with some grip tape on them? Or hell take the stock pedels off and put the grip tape on the metal under the pedals. Aftermarket pedals are a waste of money, I speak from experience. I like the OEM ones just fine.
