Default is it possible to do a targa conversion for a 5th gen prelude?

like the topic says, is it possible to cut the roof open, but still maintain structural rigidity? I saw a pic somewhere on here, and it looked reallly nice. just wonderin what somthing like that must cost.

that picture was a photoshopped one, but if you really want to do it, and you have the money, im sure its possible. But I doubt it'll be able to hold up to daily driving and still be able to hold up. And I doubt it would be very safe if you ever got into an accident.

anything is possible with the right amount of money... so yeah of course you could to it... but it would almost without a doubt ruin the integrity of the body and would pretty much only be useful as a show car

13k... Thats what the local body shop quoted me for a flawless targa top conversion with invisible reinforcement, storage rack for the top like in a del sol, removed window frames that are atached to the body and top....

No, it's not possible to maintain all of the structural rigidity after removing the roof. ...Well, you might get close by installing a full 6pt roll cage welded to the frame, but that's adding around 100lbs to the car.

Pics don't do it justice. Looks much better in person especially since he had a panel made for it now. I've seen the car and met the owner it has a lot of underbracing done to the frame to compensate for the missing section. Definitly expensive though

there's a shop in Margate, Florida called Autotronics that did a convertible 5th gen, they used to have it parked outisde the shop all the time. If I remember correctly, it's kind of a baby blue color with a white interior.

im not sure about this but you could keep the rigidity of the car by installing roll cage....please correct me if im wrong.

does anyone have any pics of the 4th gen targa top. where the guy used the del sol targa top?

he didn't use the del sol top....he just used the brackets to fab his own.......i am pretty sure i saw this on 92lude.com somewhere and he had his mechanic do a lot of under bracing to keep the car rigid
