Default what offset on a lowered intergra?

im thinking about buying some rims soon, and i thought i had picked out some pretty nice ones then my friend said they were no good because of the offset. what offset should i be looking for. im going to get 17"ers and my car is probably going to be lowered 2.25 in the front 2 in the back. also what are some good, not to expensive brands, i was just looking at tires.com 5zigen? nakayama racing? nippon? any info would be a big help, i dont know too much in this area.

You should be able to get an offset of +45 (stock GSR/Si wheels), or +42 (most 17's I've seen on Hondas/Acuras), or +40 (what most people have on their Rotas).
