Default difference in blocks (only blocks not head) d16a6 vs d16z6

Hey, guys I'm just curious about the differences between the blocks of a a6 and a z6, I know the head is different, but are the blocks themselves identical? The reason I ask is because of I was thinking of rebuilding my stock a6 (that i just got done swapping) and turning it into a mini-me. Thanks for the help.

an upgrade for your A6 block would be the Z6 oil pump, i would just get a new one because thats one part you don't want going out on you.

well the actual block isnt that diff....
the difference comes to the crank, rods, and pistons.....
also i beleive the sleeves on the Z6 are a lil ticker.....
the oil pump on the Z6 its better since its designed for a VTEC engine purpose
if u wanna beef up ur A6 block, hone it, put the Z6 internals into it and u good to go

Is the crank better? Do the piston's in the z6 cause more compression or less when mated with the a6's crank, what about the other way around??

The z6 and A6 cranks are identical. Go to majestics website and they have the same part number listed for them both. The rods are also the same physically, but I don't know if they are tha same part number. The A6 pistons are flat top and the Z6 pistons are dished. The blocks are close enough that If you remove the oil oriface in the A6 block you wont be able to tell the difference with whichever one you build.

Default Intermediate shaft holes not fully machined on the D16Z6

Two are there but not threaded, one is just a dimple.

one big difference is the a6 has steel main caps and the z6 has aluminum.
