tech-edge vs fjo wideband units?
Whats up guys,
I was just wondering what the major differences between the 2 units are. I was thinking of getting the tech-edge diy unit since its only 88 dollars and my soldering skills are decent and would save me a lotta money doing it myself.
In other words, is one unit better than the other and why?
hopefully you guys can help me make the right choice.

I believe your soldering skills must be EXCELLENT in order to assemble the tech edge...I bought mine pre-assembled,..
ask Falcon, he has done a few ...

I'm not really too worried about the soldering. I downloaded the whole how-to on putting everything together. Doesn't look too bad at all.
Don't forget the cost of the sensor when considering the TechEdge... They can be pricey depending on availability... still gonna be cheaper than the FJO but just think about it
Theres talk on the ems forum that the DIY kits have to have >13volts at all times.
The FJO is apparently immune to this.
FYI to those that have underdrive alternator pulleys.

http://www.diy-wb.com also is a cheaper alternative.. i think that's where techedge based thier kit.
so does anyone know which kit is better, excluding the fact that you have to put it together.
Just wanna know which put out a better read-out and what not.

well ive had my techedge v1.5 for a while now and i really like it. Easy install, plus automapping with the aem ems. Only thing that isnt cool is that the display doesnt work when its cold outside, wierd. But Its hot 10 months out of the year here so I guess its not a huge problem.
and it doesn't even work.
OT: Did you ever get that egt gauge to work by the way?
If you go techedge, make sure you get the newest version (1.5 as far as I know). I have the first version, and it works great... when it works. I don't think its a flaw in the design... but more of a flaw with the specific one I got. It has fried on me twice. But, the guy who made it for me replaced it with a new one.... all is well so far. If I had ot do it again, I would get the new v1.5 techedge. The constant 13+v can be a pain sometimes. But its worth the lesser price (at least to me)
I would recommend thet echedge for the price.... you can't beat it when compared to the prices of others.

After reading the AEM forums over the past few weeks i ended up getting the FJO. If you are interested talk to Viren about his gb or call Chris at Horsepowerfreaks.com. That is the cheapest your gonna get it.

not to drift off topic but, is the MOTEC wideband worth the money? or is it just equivalent to the FJO. i ask because i'm am undecided about purchasing either one.
accuracy and reliability are the most important factors of course

Is that the kit with the LCD display? or is that one still ~$750

I would think that is without the LCD display. If thats the price with it, then damn everyone should jump on it--me included....EMS and not having a wbo2 is almost pointless.
