H22/h23 head gaskets the same??
rIDEAL did make one for the h23.It came with the F-Max turbo kit but it did lower compression a little to run more boost.Someone said the F-Max site was down but turbokits.com is still up.You could try and email them for more info.
Are you positive about H22/H23 head gaskets not being interchangeable?
I thought the bore size (diameter) is the same and only the stroke is different (not affecting the head gasket) so that the head gaskets would be identical.
I only ask because I have an H22 head gasket on my H23 and was told by everyone that they are compatible, but I have an unexplained small oil leak from the head gasket area in the back of the engine.
Are there any sites or specs online anywhere that actually say they're incompatible?

i think they are close.. i know that the h23 has the oil line for the head on the block blocked off with a plug... bore is the same.. h23 is different stroke.. but honda carries differnt p/n
I am positive because i went through three on my car until i got it right. The h23 block does have an oil orifice the h22 doesnt but ill bet your oil leak is coming from a place that appears to be a cam seal above the water pump area.If it is you need to put on an h23 gasket.Mine did the same thing with the h22 gasket (there are 2 part #'s for h22 gaskets by the way)but when i put the h23 on the leak stopped. If you take the head off and place the two gaskets on the head individually it becomes apparant where the leak is coming from.
STR8RCN,
You are my new hero. YES, the oil leak is from that spot that everyone figured it must be a cam seal problem.
Besides of turbokits.com, do you know anywhere that has the H23 head gasket for sale?

I have not been able to find anyone else in my years of building my h23.I had someone suggest a cometic head gasket but they did not list one for the h23 but i think they might build one for the right $.
