Ok.. I just installed some ground control coilovers and after a little test dive, I park my car and after I get out I see a little black/brown/rust thing laying beside my back wheel... my friend said it was my bump stop, and that it was ok to take it off... I am just wonderin if it was a big thing to lose.. or if I wcould just take all the rest of them off and have no problems....Any Suggestions?

 

Yes, you want them on if you care about your parts. You didn't say how low the car was or what kind of shocks you have (if they are worth saving). Think of a bump stop being like a safetty latch on a handgun. It is there to greatly reduce the chance of bottoming and damaging pieces on the car. The lower you go, the greater the chance that you will bottom the shocks so the more important having some or all of the bump rubber there. A gun safety latch can't guarantee you won't shoot yourself but it can sure reduce the chances that you'll do it when you didn't mean to.

It is possible that you could drive carefully for years without damage from bottoming, and or you might damage them the first time you pull off your driveway. If you want to have any protection against bottoming, you should have at least 1/2 -2/3 of your bump rubber present and in decent shape and you should drive carefully over bumps when you can.

 

where can I buy bumpstops from at a low price?

 

Or where can i buy them period, and how can i replace them? Also and suggestions on where to find some good shocks (since iam rollin on stock)?
