Question about coilovers, lowering...
First off, this is my first experience with lowering a car, so forgive the lack of knowledge. Anyway, I got Maxspeed coilovers installed in my CRX 4 days ago and I am not too impressed with the ride height. There is still about an inch of clearance between the back tires and the fender and about 1/2 inch between the front tires and fender. I have lowered them almost as far as they will go. I think they are supposed to be a 0-4" drop... Im assuming I've got them dropped about 3-3 1/2". Wouldnt a 3" drop be REALLY DAMN LOW? Am I just being impatient? Do they still need more time to "settle"? By the way, the ride quality is much better than I expected if anyone is interested in Maxspeed.
I've got 3 inches on my civic and its handles great, and your suspension will settle as soon as you start driving the car or moving it that is. But if you go too low you have to worry about wheel bite, thats the only real problem.
They're likely installed wrong. Lowering 2" will put the tires right at the fender; 3" is just way too much lowering for any practicality. Have you cut the bumpstops (only half-way)?

do you have the front springs mixed up with the rear springs by any chance? try taking off the lower perch and threading the top perch all the way down (not familiar with maxspeed, they may only have one, but i don't know). what condition are your struts in?
crxs are high anyway if you start with four " of gap in the fist place and you only have the car dropped 3" then you are about right in a crx if you dropp them all the way down you probobly willn't even tuck any tire at all. if you have a civic on 4" you will tuck or a del sol but a crx willn't dropp to the point of tucking with coils. be there and installed them. but if you realy want to go that lowe then you can cut the coil on your spring bad ride not recomended.

takes longer then a few seconds to settle. I have frinds that dumbed thier cars on Junk2's and then had to raise it up a couple days later, because the springs settled and it was even lower then they though.
Make sure you have the spings in the right spots and have your bump stops cut in half.

never had a problem with it setling any more then when if first setls and I have lowed about 5 cars myself and my buddy has lowed about 25-30 and hasn't had a problem maybe it is the spring but hay ha never know!
settleing should not take more the a day of driving.
i have RACTIVE coil over, yes they suck i know. but they are REALLY STIFF. and i am gussing 'MaxSpeed' would be a lot like ractives, they look a lot like them.
ok, so i have my car as low as it will go with out cutting the perch on the strut. that means the "turny thing" for the coil overs is ALL THE WAY DOWN. and still was not low enough in the back, so i just took out the "turny thing" all together in the rear. so i am guessing i have a good 3+ inch drop. and i left the front turny things in, but still have them turned all the way down.
i would say turn the coils all the way down, if you dont like it, and want it lower, i would say sell your coils and get "JUNK2"s hehe, skunk2. or ground contorls, they would wrok better and go lower. if not that, then buy so,e springs and cut them
p.s. ractives suck. saving for srr.

dont knock on skunk2's,
i love skunk2's.
i used to have Skunk2 GSR coilovers in my old EF 4door and that car was slammed off its *** and it handled better than.....well i don't have an analogy, but it handled really nice, no wheel hop, nothing, take hairpins at 75mph on stock balding tires with only a neuspeed tie bar up front. a little bumpy though, thats because i had bad shocks, ne way. buy them.

a common made mistake is:
when u get the coilovers the 2 rings on the cylinder are located wrong....
one of the rings has a lil lip that its looking down
the rings need to be taken out and installed this way... the one that its just a ring goes first .,... then on top of that the one that has a lip, but th elip needs to look up..... heres a pic of my coils on the front.....hope u get the idea

i am not bagging on Skunk 2's i wish i had a set. they look great, and they do slam you car, and seem to be a good ride [performance].
as for R1, i have never tried them. but i am sure they are better the reactive. but one thing good about reactive, is they work for accords and everything, the same coil will fit most all hondas. and because of that they make their spring rateing really high, so its quite stuff. sucks for driving, but its handels pretty well on a un-bumppy road [track]. i have NO body roll. but still its reactive, any they are POOP. but better then nothing
and they were 30 bucks
new.

-k- springs are made for sertine cars for a reason a universal spring or coil is ****! if they aren't enginered for the car they could make the car handle worse. a comon mistake is that all coils and springs are the same they just look different in not true there is a reason for the old saying you get what you pay for. get some coils or springs that are made for your car from a good company hew actualy test there **** then just some place that makes it to fit most cars and you will lern alot about coils and spring. trust me I have ben there spent the ber minimum just to drop the car then I hatted the ride did some research got some made for my car tested on the track for my car and it made so much difference!

taking out all of the other words this is what you where left with 1. you can't say how a spring will perform by how they look. 2.3.and5. use turminalogy that my grandmother of litle brother woudn't use this makes you sound like you know anynothing. 4. most coils have a 4" dropp so Im gessing that yourse do to corect me if I'm wronge. 6. I am also asuming from your posts that this is the first pair of coils you have had also corect me if Im wrong. you wouldnt know how longe it takes a spring or coil to settle unless you have had experiance with a veriety of springs and coils of many difrent tipes. it is unfare for you to say that all coils are like your coils especialy if you have only had one pair of coils to copair other springs and coils to. if any of my asumtions ar wronge corect me I don't know you I am just going on what I have read in your post so If I am wrong then corect me!
