98 Accord 4 cyl Engine Grounding
Does anyone know what the grounding points are for a 98 Accord 4 cyl? I have heard that after grounding the engine with about 4 gauge cable you get smoother shifting and idling as well. I know you can buy the kit but I think you could use better quality parts for a better price if you DIY. Here si the link from the HKS website if anyone wants the theory behind it. http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=1506&rsku=0

Bo-monster..dont spend you money on it...
it's wont affect any real perfomance really.
there's actually number(50-75) posts about grounding kit..
some of them have some expert level opinion on it..
if you really want a new grounding system then go to audio custom system
places for some fat wires.

some magazine also ran a dyno on it, 1.3 hp gain i think.
but they are running a supra turbo, that car is so amazing
you prolly get 3 hp just for changing oil, 2 for swapping in new spark plugs..
it wont do much good on the performance side(accord)

Jan 03 issue of Import Tuner did a review of HyperGround wires. They report 5 hp gain on a Suzuki Aerio (whatever TF that is) and a couple of ft-lbs of torque. They have a dyno chart and most of the gains look like they come above 3500-4000 rpm.
I think Honda Tuning reviewed them too and also reported modest gains.

I was really more interested in the claims that you can get smoother idling and shifting(for AT's). I basically want to get rid of the vibration when idling, especially when the A/C is on. I also have a tempermental transmission and thought it migt somehow help shifting a bit. Mostly the idling tho really.

Kinda. When I took my ar for the 65000 check-up I told them I had some wierd shifting and described it to them. They said they checked it and there was nothing wrong with it. This was a dealership too. I know that there was a transmission warranty extension for the 99's and up. Maybe there's a reason that they skipped my year for the 6th generation Accords.
Well the main problem that I really have with my tranny is when I slow down quickly. Basically it acts like it wants to stall. It'll drop to about 250 rpm and then recover to between 750 and 1000 rpm. That's one of the issues I have. The other is with a delay in shifting. Sometimes when I slow down and don't come to a stop and then take off again there is a pause before the gear catches. The tach will show an increase in rpm but the car doesn't go faster. There is maybe a delay of 1/2 a second but when it grabs you feel a jerk like it has to recover. So that is my problems in a nutshell. I really just wanted smoother idling from the grounding kit. Any advice for the other issues?
