Default need some help with D series swap

Im swapping in a D15B7 from a 95 civic DX into a 91 civic DX. This isnt for performance obviously, I just baught it to drive for work because I'm a courier and im sick of putting on so many miles on my 95 hatch with B18C1 swap. The stock engine has no compression so I'm putting in the D15B7 because i have it just sitting here going to waste.

Basically all I am using from the D15B7 is the block, head and clutch, I already swapped over the intake manifold and harness and all that easy stuff, and I'm going to be dropping it back into the car tomorrow, but what do i do as far as which distributor to use? The B7 and B2 distributors will both mount onto the head but the B7 cap is rotated to the right about 40 degrees. So if I try and use the B2 distributor it will never start because the timing will be so far off. I could mount the B2 upside down but I'll only be able to get one bolt in and then I'll have to make a bracket for the other bolts, then i could just rearrange the plug wires so that it still fires in the correct order, but there has to be an easier way to do this. somebody must know what to do here.

Your ECU will not accept the D15B7 distributor. You MUST use the B2 dizzy if you are going to stick with your stock ECU (PM7..?).

The distributor alignment problem you are facing is exactly the same as what those Z6 mini-me swappers out there face, you must modify your B2 distributor bolt-holes in order to make the B2 dizzy fit with the correct timing. I wish I had a picture to show you what I'm talking about... But basically you must remove material within each of the 3 bolt holes on the B2 dizzy to make it so you can turn the distributor enough to correct the timing. Right now your B2 dizzy bolt holes aren't long enough, you must make them longer.

Another issue is the drivers side motor mount. You will have to remove the B7's ENTIRE motor mount on the timing belt side, and replace it with the ENTIRE B2 motor mount. The timing belt cover might have to be trimmed due to the slightly different shape of the B2 motor mount.

Other than this, the B7 is pretty much the same as the B2 externally. Feel free to e-mail me if this doesn't make sense, or if you have any more questions. I might be able to dig up more info for you.

thanx for your input, i already swapped the mount over. I couldnt get that plug out of the block for the coolent temp sensor so i just extended the wires to run the B7 coolant sensor from its location by the thermostat. anyone have any idea how to get the damn plug out or should the way i did it work just fine?

hey i did that exact swap one time and for the motor mount. i had the original mount on it and it was a tight fit but i had some problems the timing belt was rubbin agenst the lower mount part so i had to take everything off and take the mount off and to solve that problem i grinded down the side of the mount to have clearence for the t-b and threw it back on and put everything back on and it solved the problem with the grinding of the timing belt. the motor mount im talking about is the one with the stud and nut and the bolt (the angled bolt type). the d series are like the simplest swaps to do. like it took me an hour to take out my motor and put in a newer motor in it. (D15b2 to a D15b8). good luck
