Accord automatic tranny fron axel
I just picked up a replacement axel from NAPA for my 1990 accord. there is no dynamic damper on the axel and it is about 1/2 inch longer then the original. Do I need the damper and will the 1/2 inch length difference make a difference iwith the steering.
thanks jim

did you try pressing the axel in? They can do in/out a bit but not much. Even if not I'm sure it'll work out for ya.
Far as the dampner goes I had the same issue once while I was still auto and ran fine without it.

thanks for the reply. I did compress it and it still was about 1/2 inch longer. I tried for 45 mins to get the axel into the tranny and it just wouldn't go. I was under the impression that I was getting a rebuilt honda axel. This axel did not look like the original axel that I took out. The CV joint on the tranny side was completely round where the original was rounded with 4 flat sides. Well I brought it back to NAPA and ordered another one for tomorrow. The short axel looked the same and snapped right in.

Jim,
I'm not sure if you know about the Ohio Honda-Tech meet or not but here's a link.

Cool, thanks... I can't make it, but I'm particularly impressed by the weather prediction!
quote:
WEATHER:MILD, Mostly Sunny, 78 degrees, wind from the NorthEast @ 3MPH
That's a typical March 9 in Columbus Ohio, right??
Here in Uniontown there's gonna be about 3/16" of snow, which means that they'll put between 3" & 16" of salt on the roads.
