Anyone know how Bose subwoofer is wired on RSX typeS?
I 'm trying to hook up a pasive subwoofer and I don't know which wires are which that currnetly run to the stock subwoofer. There is a big white wire, big black wire, skinny green wire, and skinny striped green/white wire. TIA.
What is a passive subwoofer?
The white is your power and the black should be the ground.
One of the green wires should be a remote turn on. You can use a DMM to check though.

no, it's a bose system. I tried using those wires when I hooked an amp & sub combo into one.. they all read like speaker lines, I just didn't know which set was which. My guess was the two big ones were a set, and the two small ones were a set. Typically on bose the big wires provide 12v's to the amp, and the small are the speaker line inputs, except that is a passive sub.. maybe DVC? or there are two in there. I ended up taking my wires off of the bose amp under the passenger seat. Oh a side note, those lines in the rear won't have much power, and a passive sub in my opinion won't work well with that setup (for one thing you'll mess up the ohms the bose amp is looking for). Your best bet is an amplified setup. If you go that route i can help you with locating the lines you need to tag off of
Thanks for the info. I'll probably get a small amp to power the tube. Can you help me with hooking the wires up? I was maybe going to try to keep the stock woofer running. Any suggestions?
yeap. Get a Level output converter (converts speaker level to RCA level) and in the bose plug, if you're looking at it dead on, in the lower left corner there are two bigger wires next to all the little ones (To the left of the little ones)... those are the rear speaker left (IIRC.. you'll have to meter them to dbl check). in the exact opposite corner (upper right) is the other rear speaker line. you'll have to tag off of them. also, under the amp there is a relay, and IIRC again the white wire is your remote turn on you can tag off of.
under the seat. I couldn't figure out which pairs going to the "sub" in the back were which. They all seemed to be interconnected in some fashion. I found it much easier to get it from under the seat
