my friend's car was labeled as not street legal the other day when a PO stopped us and looked under his hood. He was not turbo'ed, but had some evident mods and even though he had a carb number for some, DC headers and AEM CAI, the PO was still being a jerk and labeled his car anyway. Now he has to return his car to stock and go to a state referee to clear it or else he can't drive it any where. I've a turbo project i'm putting together, and this even brought me back to reality that i DO live in CA and them cops DO love to harass the H/A folks.

For those in CA with daily driven turbo motors,
how do you feel about this?
have you ever been stopped?
what did the PO's say when they saw your setup?
technically they cannot render a warrantless search without probable cause, have you ever tried telling them that b4?
what did they say?
did you ever had to take your ride to the state referee?

b/c of this event, i've been considering a swap for itr head and pct pistons and go N/A sleeper with the engine bay looking completely stock, with stock airbox and jdm itr headers w/ heat shield. Yeah i'll fork out a lot more $ and get less power output, but it will look stock.
