b18a swap STILL WONT START! arghh...
ok, i swapped a 92 b18a into my car. i've got an 89 dx. i switched the motor to obd 1. everything is hooked up, MPFI swap is complete. The car will crank, but will not start. The injectors aren't firing, no ignition, and the fuel pump doesn't prime. I have a check engine light, and the ECU won't display a code or blink or anything. I have checked my thermostat and other grounds quite thoroughly. My main relay is fine. What the hell else could be causing this? i've got a good ground from the head to the chassis too. I have no clue as to what else this could be, and the downtime is killing me. anyone know what the hell this could be? taking ALL suggestions
was just about to post this too...have the same problem..but my car doesnt even crank over
...and my ecu dont even blink too but my fuel pump works..can some one help else

hey, did you do the auto to manual swap like me too? if your car wont crank, take a look at a couple things. first, the plug with the two thick black wires that used to go to your shifter...make sure those two wires and wired/soldered together, then take a look at your ignition fuse in your fusebox also. damn i hope someone can help us
Don't know if i can help but i had a sitiuation similiar to yours. No spark, no fuel, can't hear fuel pump, check engine light on but ecu doesn't flash codes. It ended up being some dash fuse either 13 or 14. What caused the fuse to blow was one of the yel/blk wires going to the injector resistor box hit ground. And this was a DX to multiport conversion.
hmm, that's wierd. i've checked all of my fuses and they are fine. no, i didn't get the chance to do the mpfi swap on the previous motor. but i've gone over it alot and i'm pretty sure its done right

mine was doing the same thing. but it was just a short blowing my altornator silonoid fuse, so my main relay wouldn't click on.
if all else fails you can run straight power to your fuel pump and ecu on a switch until you find the problom.
just a thought
ya the main relay turns the ecu on. when the light(cel) flashes once that will tell you the powers on. you can run strait power to a13 or a15(yellow and black). if it flashes onece then your in business. if not you have a bad ground. have you checked the ground from the engine harnes to the thermastat housing on the back of the motor? hope this hepled.
so i just run 12v straight to a13 or 15 OR a13 and a15? thanks guys. hey, would it make a difference that my fusebox isn't bolted up? does it need to be bolted up to be grounded or anything like that? thanks.
I use to have the same problem in my 92' RS,.. Will crank but won't start,.. No spark and No fuel delivery with check engine light ON and no code. I couldn't hear the Fuel Pump, so I took out the rear seat and you can see the fuel pump right there in the middle,.. then I peeled a wire,.."i don't remember what color" and had a long wire from the battery all the way to the wire I peeled,.. put them together and you can hear the fuel pump.
OK, so I took out a fuel line and then put the wires to the fuel pump and the fuel line squirts in my face
So the fuel pump was working but there was still no spark at all,... so I went and got a Distriburetor, spark plugs and wires and a Main Fuel Relay and still no spark or fuel or anything.
A friend of mine told me it could be the ECU,.. so we went to a junk yard and found a 92 Civic ECU with the same plugs for $75 bucks,... we decited to go for it.
I pluged it in and VROOOOMMMMM,.. I had tears in my eyes to drive my Integra back on the streets..
So anyways,.. see if you can find another ECU somewhere.... If is not the ECU then I don't know.
Good Luck

I had the same symptoms (except for the check engine light) when I did my Z6 swap. I think I had to ground the main relay to thermostate housing and that solved it. The ECU wasn't turning on due to this and nothing was coming on (no spark, no fuel, no fuel prime either). Try grounding your main relay and see if that works. It's a pain, I was down for almost 8 months and to find out it was just a wire!!!
Still makes me mad.
Still makes me mad.
damn, yeah my car has been down for 2 months now. i'm gonna try grounding the main relay to g101 on thermostat housing. ill let you guys know.
ok well i grounded the all black wire to the thermo ground, and nothing. do i need to ground wires other than the straight black one? thanks for any help.
Check the disturbutor plug that you had to wire in. You could have wired it backwards like I did. Anyways hope you get it running.

UPDATE! i wired my ECU and fuel pump to a switch, and i got the car to turn over! it was running real rough though, i had to hold a spark plug wire in place to run that bitch. im gonna go get new plugs and wires tomorrow and see how she runs. there was 3 feet of fire coming out of my header though! im sure that means iut was running real rich or flooded, though, right?
Sound like your fuel pump/ ecu relay located underneath the dash above the hood pop lever, they often go out on 4th gen cars. also what injectors did you use? the 92 injectors are obd1 and are a different resistance. I used 92 injectors on my swap however when i did my b16a and it ran fine but i've heard various stories. If all else fails try some preobd injectors and see how that works out.
