How does you know if your head is warped?

How do you know if your head is warped?

I have my head of of my engine right now. Before I put it back on, is there a way surefire way to check? Or is the straight edge test the only way. What kind of tollerances am I looking for in warpage?

you can use a straight edge-not a ruler but a TRUE metal straight edge and see if light comes through from the other side...this is the only way someone would be able to without taking to to a machine shop. You can tell the obvious warpage with that way.
