Default My right front brake caliper started to rust is this normal??

well I rotated my tires yesterday and found that my front brake caliper (only one side) is alittle rusty. Now this is a daily driver and I don't drive like a *****. Has this happened to anyone else. Is this normal?

BTW: my car was outside during the snow and didn't move for 2.5 days after it snowed. Can this be the cause ?

Did you mean to say rotors? When you dont drive your car in a few days and there is moist conditions you will definetly get rust on your rotors. My friends GSR sat for a week outside and his rotors were pure rust. I didn't notice anything on his calipers though. I dont think its anything to worry about.

the caliper rusted? unlikely. brake dust on the caliper rusting.. likely.. the rotor is rusty I'm sure.

I wouldn't worry about it one bit.

yes thats the cause, rotors will get rust on them quite easily esp after moist conditions, it probably just ran onto your caliper. nothing to worry about

if the cadmium coating on the caliper comes off - it will rust.

how would this coating come off. This is an 2001 R with only 21k on the clock. Should the coating last alittle longer than that?? Could salt be the problem here? but again I will post pics when I get home, I'm at my night computer class now

salt or acidic wheel cleaner can take it off

i brought my R to a detailer once and they used wheel acid on the wheels and got it on the calipers too - completely took off the gold color on the calipers (all cadmium plating fubar) - now the calipers look like ***

My front calipers turned a nasty gray then started to rust at like 40,xxx miles. I just took them off when I did my brake lines and painted them flat black with some bbq spray paint. Heres the links to the b4 and after pics.

This is the b4 pics with the rusted caliper
