Default Did you remove the rear inner fender trim?

Well I've been told many times to remove my rear inner fender trim because water can get trapped inside and cause rust SO today I did. Upon removing them alot of dust kinda just feel out and the paint underneath was looking kinda white in some spots not yellow. I just wanna see how many other owns are removing this peice also.

I left mine the way it is, but one time when I went to turtlewax the kid who dried my car warned me about that. Is there any reason to NOT take all the inner fender trims off?

The question is, would it be a better idea to take them off entirely, or try to seal them in some way?

Hmm... I'm going to check mine the next time it's less than 32 degrees outside. Is there ANY reason to leave the things on?

I did the same, not an ITR. But I had it.

Curious as to the original function of this piece? Somone mentioned it was to protect the paint from rock chips etc...?

When I had the Si, I removed it and used it as a guard in the hole that the AEM CAI goes through because that hole likes to saw through CAI's.

Wouldn't a better solution to taking it off entirely be to drill some holes in it or something so that the water can drain out? That way you get protection from rocks, and you don't trap water?

If you really want it on there, remove the innner fender trim once and a while to clean it off.

i think water would still find a way under the trim.

You'd be suprised at how much "crap" gets deposited up on the inside of the lip.

Having taken mine off, the water now just runs out, and when I clean my car (once a week) I get out all the deposited stuff up there.

I rode in an EG hatch with the liners removed. The debris kicked up from the tires make it noisy over dusty roads. Maybe spray it with some rubberized undercoating to keep it quiet.

Took mine off permanetely. I had handfuls of mud and sand when I wash it out with my hands.

I checked the RSX and they don't have the rear fenderall trim.

Most cars I have seen don't have it, so I'm keeping mine off.

I see no harm with it off.

just to clarify, are we talking about the rubber lining on the lip in the rear wheel well?
also, my car will never leave the southwest -- IE: no snow, no salt. do you think i'm still at risk for rust to start forming?

yes, you dont need snow or salt for rust to form. all it takes is water and metal(i think the metal has to have iron in it for it to rust though, but im not a science major so im not sure)
