Just got another EF, Need help...
Hey,
I just got my second EF, an '89 Civic Hatch Dx
Some one gave me the car so i don't know much about the history of it
The car was missing a battery and a couple other misc. things but over all the car is in very good condition, it has 89k on the clock
The problem i am having is that, when i hooked up a battery to it, the motor will not even turn over, when i turn the key, you hear the relay click, but the starter motor doesn't turn over
the other problem i am having is, when i pulled the spark plug wire out, there was oil on the plug wire part that goes into the block
so i assume the motor is blown, what will i need to do to make the car run again?
any help would be great
Thanks

2 things im gonna suggest
buy a multimeter
buy a helms
your gonna have to tell us a little more than that to figure out your problem.also oil on the plug doesnt necesarrily mean its blown

You can manually try to turn your motor through the pulley and find out if its really stuck...take the valve cover and investigate, check the timing belt...drain the oil and check if there's any water or metal pieces...
if the battery was very low, would the starter motor still turn?
when i tried to start it, the battery was very low, i would think it would turn very slowly
is there anything else i should do while changing the valve cover seals?
is there any way i can check to see if the motor is blown?

charge up that battery! i bet you a dollar it will start. when the battery is even remotely low, it will only click the solenoid. you could even try jump starting the car. when you take off the valve cover, its usually good to give the head components a quick visual check.......when its off you can also check the timing belt, i would suggest rotating the engine by getting a big socket on the crank pulley and examining the timing belt. if there is a rip or if it is lookin bad, replace it. if it looks ok, fire her up, or at least try to. while rotating the engine, if you turn it over about 4 or 5 times, you can see if you hear any strange knocking, etc.......this might give you a clue as to the condition of the motor. who really cares though, charge the battery and crank it over! good luck
