how can i tell if i have a HF or DX CRX?
my winter beater/ soon to be mad style sleeper is a 88 CRX, its definatly not a SI. its either a DX or HF. how can i tell the diference?? i have a Bshiteen in it now, so i cant look for AC. i have a full 88 Si interior, so i cant look for a missing AC button. i havnt looked for the AC lines going to the firewall yet(im lazy). did the 88 DX crx even have AC? the reason i want to know is becuase of weight. the DX weighs like almost 100lbs more than a HF. i hope mines a HF. anyone help me out? the gross wieght with passengers in my door jam says 25xxlbs i think if someone has a DX it should either be the same (i would have a DX) or less (ill have a DX) or if its the same as a someones HF,, SWEET *** i have a HF!! i like power to weight ratios, sutpid amrican ******s cant understand that, too simple or something
Simple If you have a rear windshield wiper, 6700-ish redline on the tach and mirrors on both sides then its 95% sure you've got a DX.
None of the above options, and a stock factory cluster with a 5500 redline then you've got an HF.
Any CRX could have had A/C. My HF had A/C before I removed it.

simple
mpfi is HF
DPFI is DX
mpfi is HF
DPFI is DX
Check for the rear wiper as he said above otherwise the HF is missing a front bumper support that the DX's have. Otherwise you could do a vin check its covered here somewhere?? If you do a search possibly in archived? you should be able to find it it will say what all of the letters and numbers mean.

i have a b16 in it now! so i cant tell if its MPFI or the other one. i got it that way. so i have no clue. is has no rear wiper. but it has both mirrors...WTF is the story.
Then it probably originally started life as an HF. The passenger side mirror can be added easily. Its less likely someone put an HF hatch lid on a DX...
If you have a Helms, there's a way to decode the VIN and figure it out too.

Actually CRX HF is 5speed. One of the 88 Civic hatch models (dx? std?) came with a 4speed. And the person said it has had a B16 swap, so the tranny is not stock.
JDM CRX - you know at this point, since your trying to figure out if you have the lighter model, the only differences between the DX and HF are subtle things that you have, which can be removed. The unibodies are the same. The bumper frame (2.5mph vs 5mph) can be removed. The wiperless hatch you already have.

ok, open your hatch, lift up the rear tire cover. if its just painted metal, its probably an hf, if its got sound deadening in and around the tire area, its probably a dx. the hf's didn't have any sound deadening anywhere but the firewall. other than that, I would run a carfax or get someone to decode the first few numbers of the vin.
yes, no sound deadening stuff anywhere, even at the firewall becuase the when the ******** before me swapped to the SI dash he tore out the material and apperently never replaced it. also where the spare tire is, its all painted with no sound deadening material... I have A HF!!!! hell yes. thanks to all that helped me out. lighter= way better. my freind has a b16 w/LSD in a 89 Si CRX has the shitty GUDE head package and every other bolt on basically. i have the b16 w/ LSD intake and tanabe catback with cat, everything else remaning stock, ill take him all the way towards the middle/ end of 4th gear. hes like, " i dont know why your **** is soo fast for having nothing" im thinking in my head, yeah 300-400 LBS less FOOO! heh heh. thanks again
