Installed Tokico Illuminas...now car is higher
I was running Bilstein shocks with my weapon R coilovers but I just switched to Tokico Illumina adjustables and now my car is 1-1.5 inches higher. Has this happened to anybody else using the Illuminas? My theory is that i'm resting on the bumpstop so I'll need to trim it. Or do I have to cut my coilovers?
try cuttin bumpstops in half..I would also think maybe ur old struts were blown..My old hatch back was like only 4" from the ground with blown struts and skunk 2's and when i put good struts on it sat 1/2" higher and rode better...dont cut ur springs..you could take out the helper springs if you want it to sit lower
sorry to break it to you, but I doubt that cutting the bumpstops would lower your car at all unless you are already sittin on them.....but then again you can do that for more suspension travel, so it isn't a bad idea. You probably noticed that shocks extend themselves with a few pounds of pushing power. These new ones might be designed to have a higher pressure. sorry not more help.
On a similar note, why did you get rid of your Bilsteins? Was adjustablity the thing you wanted to gain?

The Bilsteins are mono-tube high pressure gas and the Tokicos are twin tube low pressure gas so if anything the car should maybe ride a wee bit higher on the Bilsteins. If this is not the case, then the issue is almost certainly going to be related to the spring placement and the spring seat. Check to see where the spring seats are in comparison to the Bilstein and the Tokico but they should be almost exactly the same (which would be the stock spot). Drive the car and check the height after a bit of driver to see if it settles. You can't measure the car just after putting it on the ground without rolling at least a few car lengths to settle the suspension down from droop.
I seriously doubt all of your Bilsteins have failed and degassed so most likely any true height diff is where the car is sitting on the springs and not really a shock thing.

I just installed Tokicos on my Civic (with stock springs), and I noticed something that may help you. There are 2 positions on the front shocks for the lower clamp bolt to slide through. The 2 positions are, incidentally, about 1" apart.
If the back is higher on your car as well, then that ain't it.
If you are resting on the bumpstops, I fear that all the money you have spent on your suspension was wasted. Unless you're just in it for looks. But since you're upgrading shocks, I bet your are interested in handling. You better have at least 2" of shock travel available or you will experience some evil handling characteristics.
Finally -- It is possible that the perch location between the Bilsteins and Tokicos is off. You have coilovers? What are you worrying about, just adjust them down.

my coilovers are all the way down
i'm thinking of either getting drop springs and cutting them or better coilovers
I don't really care about my weapon r's...I might end up cutting them
They're the single spring type.

I dealt with the same problem. I'm running on tociko blues in front and bilstiens in the rear, wrapped with ground control coilovers. If I lower the coils and slam the car, then the shocks are compressed all the way down to the bump stop and the suspension bounces like ****. But if I raised the car and gave the shock room to travel, it handles hella stiff, and that's what I want. So all though i'd like to slam my crx all the way down, i'd rather ride the car high and save my shocks and improve handling. Just my preference.
send them back im sure you recieved the struts for an integra that is how mine is too cause i bought them from a teg so check it out before u start cutting stuff
