CRX with B18A - questions
I've been wanting a CRX so I can put my B18A engine in it.
I already have EVERYTHING except the CRX and some other things as motor mounts.
I heard that if I do this swap that I won't have A/C, is that truly true???? is there any way I can modify my a/c system to fit in the CRX engine bay or something?? I saw this in Hasport http://www.hasport.com/Products/Moun...unt%20EFAC.htm Is that "problem solved" for the a/c concerns????
Oh, how fast can a CRX go with a stock B18A engine???
Hasport have motor mounts, ok,.. but my biggest concern is the wiring harness. Hasport also sell Wiring Conversions http://www.hasport.com/Products/Wiring.htm, can anyone help me on which one is the wiring conversion that I need???
I have a 1992 Acura Integra RS 5 Speed with A/C<---- yeah, the whole car
thanks to all that reply.

i dont have ac w my ls, but i knw the ac bracket on the block didnt clear the crossmember. im sure you can keep ac w a rewelded bracket or diff xmember

it all depends on your motor, if its strong your gonna be happy (high to mid 14's)
if you get an si crx its basically all plug and play, you can use the si harness w your ls, but you will need to get a 90/91 ls distributor, injectors, and ecu to keep it obd0, unless you wanna go obd1, someone on HT sells the obd0 to 1 conversion harness.

For mounts, I would go HCP, theyre cheaper and i've had nothing but good experience with HCP. Don't forget the shift linkage too. Hasport does make an A/C bracket, so you can keep your A/C. The wiring harness you need depends on what model CRX you get. My friend and I make conversion harnesses, so i can help you out there.
He has a 92 teg, its OBD1, it won't plug right in.

Well I just dropped my B18a1 in my rex this past weekend, and it runs like champ.
Its very torquey. Someone in the teg forum said they ran a B18a1 in a eg and hit 14.5. That was just with bolt-ons. Your going to notice a big diff.

I don't know about mid-14's with an LS motor. My 1988 HB struggled to run mid 15's at around 89MPH with a 1995 B18B.

i've got an 89 crx with a b18a in it, but it isn;t running yet. all of the grounds to the ecu are working fine, but it wont flash the check engine light and it won't provide spark or ignition. anyone have any ideas? and yeah i hope it can just run high 14s, thats fine with me. i plan on going turbo anyway

StorminMatt: you only hit mid 15's in your 1988 HB with a B18B??? there most be something wrong,.. I hit 15.9 in my Integra stock with intake and gutted cat and bad clutch and really bad motor mounts.
chad174: 14's would be enough, I will be going turbo too
OK, so Hasport does make an A/C bracket so I can keep my A/C, would I still use the same A/C compressor belt???
Another thing,.. I'm confused here with the wiring conversion.
I have a 1992 Integra RS,... Am I a obd0 or a obd1??? all I know is that from 1990/1991 and 1992/1993 Integras things change, like the plugs to the ECU change and for some reason, the 1990-1 have 130hp and 1992-+ have 140hp. Now, I want to keep that 140hp, wouldn't changing distributor and injectors and probably the whole ECU make me go down in HP?????
I hope I didn't confuse you guys
I'm guessing i'm a obd1, and insted of going obd0 I can buy a conversion hardness from obd0 to obd1 to keep it obd1,.. right????
thanks to all for all the help.
Stormin Matt is a good guy, he really knows his stuff, but i think his B18 was just a shitty motor. A B18 powered CRX should run 14's. B18's are destined for boost anyway!
As for the AC belt question, ask Hasport, I have no idea which belt you would use.
Just buy a conversion harness to convert your car to OBD1. You'll be better off.

what ECU would you all use?
right now i'm using my crx si computer.

when I had my problem when my ECU got burned, I got a 92' Civic ECU and it did pluged in and the car started and all,.. but the check engine light stayed ON, and the car was a lil bit slower than before,.. now i'm back with my stock one.
Are 1988-1991 CRX all obd0???
1st off, what is obd0 and 1?????? does that means it has the same wiring hardness??
like, If my Integra was 1990 it would all be sooo much easier, right??
If I get a obd0 into obd1 wiring conversion, then I don't have to remove my wiring hardness at all, right?? That conversion thing it plugs where the ECU plugs so then I can put my obd1 ECU,.. Am I thinking right??

OBD - On Board Diagnostics. OBD0 means its non-OBD OBD1 means its version 1. OBD0 is all cars before 1992 OBD1 is 92-95 OBD2 is 96-98 (i think) OBD2.5 is 99 and up.
Differences between OBD1 and nonOBD:
ECU plugs
OBD1 uses saturated injectors and no injector resistor box
Dizzys and plugs are different
All the plugs are different or at least most of them, but you don't have to change them in the conversion. You don't even have to swap the injectors either.
This conversion should be easy for you, if you need a different plug, you can simply take it out of the teg that you have there. Go OBD1, the ecu's are better and its pretty easy to find any ECU chip you need. I'm using a chipped P28 to run my LSvtec.
If your teg was a 90-91 it would be easier, but you got the better engine in the 92-93

uhhhh...... yea.
makes sense doesn't it???
b18 engine <-> B18 ECU
do yourself a favor go find a 90-91 PR4 make sure its a manual not an auto
