OT - I sometimes forget why I dont post in the EG Forum.. then I am remided.
I was crusing the EG forum and someone was asking about the downsides of coilovers. Someone said that they needed to by a camber kit. I chimed in with that you do no need a camber kit if you are not planning on changing your camber, and are not lower ecessivle and made the comment the some negative camber will help you car handel better... this is one of the responses I got.
"Quote of B16A2-EM1"
"Any car will handel better with negative camber - WRONG - yes negative camber does improve cornering a bit, but the gains are not worth what you lose in your straight away. Think about it, most of the preassure is being applied to the the inside of the wheels - Not evenly. Do you know what traction means? " (end of Quote)
I wounder if he does.
Here is the whole thread.

I just read the thread.....
This happens Every Time the "real" racers try to drop "real" knowledge on people who really have no idea what the hell they are talking about.
The altimas.net fiasco is a perfect example.
RJ - who's got new rotors from andie and should take the dremel to them for slotting.....

Oh my, that thread is hilarious, because it's so pitiful. Thanks for adding some levity to my day, guys.
Well, it could have been worse.
I kick myself almost every single time I leave this forum and go to others around here....

wow that was pretty funny.
Heres a question for the pros. I realize koni yellows are better than kyb agx's however on an typical autox course how much time difference are we talking about or is it not that, is it the fact that with the better equipment one would learn to drive their car better over a period of time?
Koni yellows are a little more and thats what I will be buying just trying to justify all the ins and outs in my mind.
Thanks gents

Yeah,
The EG forum causes brain damage
I do spend time in there because my car IS and EG after all and I try my best to combat the stupidity but when I've had enough I run back to the Tech, ITR or RR forums (the Hybrid forum has been sort of retarded lately also)

they also, I believe, not rebuildable or able to be revalved which limits them compared to a Koni
UrbanLegend22 Thanks for the info. I reckon I can run them for a year or so and then get them revalved to improve perfomance later on.
Exactly what info does one give koni to get the custom revalve? Does this require getting your car corner weighted or whatever that is to balance out the vehicle?
Thanks

As a data point, I autocrossed a Civic with stock suspension and 176k mile shocks on street tires last week. I took 3rd out of about 10 in a PAXed street tire class. The shocks were constantly bottoming out, the car wouldn't take a set in the corners, there were no bump stops (disintegrated), and it was impossible to put power down (wheel hop in 2nd gear in the sweepers). Now I have Tokicos and I expect to be about 1 second faster. We will have another autocross sometime in the next few weeks and I will see if my predictions come true.
Theres another point. Sometimes I think that for my purposes ie a vehicle that travels well long distance, gets great gas mileage, fast in the 1/4 mile (JDM b18c itr motor) handles "like its on rails", creature comforts a/c, nice stereo, moonroof.
Is all I am trying to achieve (lol)
He who has the deepest pockets for vehicle expenditures will not always win the race but its tough going against guys that go to driving schools and have a 5000.00 suspension set-up. No I am not against those things I would love to do them.
I did well last year with agx's and modest set-up compared to some of the cars I was up against that are way high dollared and took pride that I could keep the pace with these guys.
Well now that car is gone and I am building the all purpose vehicle to race this year and I think damn its nice to learn on a less expensive set-up and have some of the guys respect for placing well with it.
And what the heck I always got a built in excuse (thats a joke) man this is supposed to be fun but I am losing sleep over all the choices!
My dilema is a couple extra hundred here and there really adds up fast.
Thanks Whitney for answering my question on track times. That puts somethings into a different perspective.

why leave rr/auto-x? you KNOW your only hurting yourself.
I rarely venture out anymore. Its good to be among people who think along the same performance lines.
The altimas.net fiasco is a perfect example.
That still brings a tear of joy to my eye.

oh jesus....thanks for my entertainment. now I can't sleep, Im laughing @the fabulous terminology "assclown"
It is hillarious to see that one ahem :street car: driver, slowly pushing his opinion.
In comes the bulk of the RR forum to drop some knowledge...ala common sense.
I swear there is more brainpower/knowledge in the RR forum than all model specific forums on H-T..

I would just like to thank MaddMatt for wasting my afternoon. I just finished reading ALL 30 pages...I did learn a couple of things, or rather, was reminded of things that I had read before, so at least I have that.
Now, please excuse me while I go gouge my eyes out with a plastic fork.
