how should i build my b16a to have better lowend power and tourqe then a b18c?
my b16a is a weak *** dog...i bought my car with a d15b8 in it and that was slow so i saved up for my 1993 b16a sirII and im still the weakest link in my group of friends( my car looks better though lol) how can i or should i build my b16a to own all my buddies b18c's?
i was thinking building the head will do me some justice for a while but even if i throw all jun II parts in my head will it feel more like a b18c or will it still be a tourqeless wonder?
im looking for more low end power and tourqe out of my b16a so i can hang with the b18c guys and have .2 liters less muhahaha

Higher compression pistons will give you some low end torque. I think its 10hp for every 1 high of compression. You could also bore it out a bit if your going to be putting pistons in there.

can't really take out a B18C but if you want to spend money on your b16, get a 4.7 FD, gs-r head with skunk2 manifold, and ITR/CTR cams. or just boost. best bet would be to get a B18C short block.

Buy a 1.8 or 2.0 block and sell yout b16 shorty.
i do not want ls/vtec.... ill never have ls/vtec or crvtec..in my eg i want a b16a because everyone dislikes them i want to build it and keep it pretty much 1.6 because its a little car with a little motor..its just the way i am i guess id like to keep the b16 head and block in the eg and when the time comes ill put a b18c in a ek.
I got torque out of my B16 with increased compression.

Dood, a 1.8 is still a little motor.
Btw, rather than drop a buttload on misc "all mota" parts, i`d start w/ an lsd trans.

(im difficult)my point is im keeping the b16a thats final..i want to make it keep up with the b18c guys and itr guys do u think the setup i listed above will keep my car alive and near the top of the food chain of the road? or should i just start saving for a ek with a b18c now?

i think im gonna save my cash and build a ek/b18c-r and just keep the b16a simple with a few more power hop ups along the way until i can afford a new kaa..thanks guys
Dont try to go NA with a b16.. it can be done but it will be expensive and still not that fast. You could turbo that mother and make twice as much hp/tq as a b18c with all the money you are throwing down for those jun parts.
or do what im doing and buy a b17 crank with forged rods and then forged pistons. itll make good power and more torque. only problem is finding the crank....thats what im in search of right now. oh yea its also not as expensive and getting the whole b18c block.

I'm just saying that even built you won't be beating the 1.8L motors down like you might think.
Sleeve that B16A and go 84.5mm bore and only then will you really be doing something. 1.8L and a perfect R/S ratio would mean better-than-B18C throttle response, revving, and the same or more torque.

I say get a 1.8L shorty and throw in at least ITR pistons while it's out and call it a day.

Who is overrating b16s here?? Everyone knows they are the torqueless wonder. A b16 good honda engine someone can get for cheap. Sure, it isn't the fastest thing, but it is FAR from a pos. It is the engine all b series engines following were designed from.

I got love for the b16...but sadly it won't do much unless you go FI. It will be quick all motor, but a b18 with similar mods will eat it up.
