Default Questions about wastegates and where to vent them.

I was wondering, do you guys have your wastegates on your turbo's just simply venting right out of the unit itself?? Or do you have another little pipe sending the exhaust gases into... the fender.. or whatever?

I was told that it is better to vent it away from the compartment becuase it is sooo hot or something. I'm just trying to clear things up so I know what exactly people are talkign about. I don't know if it is something that I actually need, which is to make another little pipe sending the gases away, or if it's just a waste of money.

My pipe runs straight down to the ground but I'm considering making it dump somewhere else, I still get exhaust stink when i boost sometimes.
