Default Question about tire fitting on certain wheel....

Would a 205/60D13 (hoosier autocrosser) be able to squeeze onto a vx wheel? What about say a steelie?

I'm going to say no, because that wheel is 5.5" wide, and the Hoosier 205's tend to be 215- 220mm wide (~8.5"). This will bow the tread of the tire, reducing your contact patch. As a general rule of thumb, you want your sidewalls as vertical as possible.

There is some tuning you can do by changing wheel widths to angle the sidewalls. Sidewalls that look like /__\ (if this doesn't make sense the __ part is the tread on the ground) will cause the tires to grip less, but will transition from static to dyncamic friction much more linearly. If the sidewalls are like |__| you'll have the most traction and the transition will be somewhat more abrupt. If they're like \__/ then the transition will be sudden and violent. The ammount of tuning you can do like this is negligable at best and the differences rendered won't be noticeable in anything other than a heavily modified (read GT5 class) cars.

5.5". If I remember right, all 13" Honda wheels are 5.5" wide.

i know they wont grip as well as they could, but are there any damaging drawbacks to doing it? could i hurt my drivetrain or anything else putting them on the vx wheels?

Not sure about Hooisers but my Falken Azenis (205x50x15) say on the tire specifically to not mount on a 5.5" rim.

The place doing the mounting should know... If they don't, take it to a different place.

The Azenis say not to mount on a 15.5" wheel, not a 5.5" wheel.
