JDM B16A... That' why. It runs on 92+ octane. When I race, I bump up the timing and run 94 octane.

is there a performance difference if i ran 91 compared to 94 octane? or it is just better for the fuel economy? also, my friend said he put 100 octane in his car, and said he felt a big difference. is this true?

You should run the lowest required octane for your engine, because the higher the octane, the more deposits it can leave. That's why I run 94 only on advanced timing, because the extra octane helps keep the detonation down

octane corresponds to length of time to burn. the higher the octane, the slower the burn.

my fuel economy blows in general. however, there is evidence that higher octane increases fuel economy as well as evidence that says that a higher octane doesnt do **** for economy.

Hmm.. so what is it then???? Correct me if I'm wrong..(which i probably am ) I always thought that the higher the ocatane the faster it burns.. therefore the faster it burns the less you get out of it..??

I always use 88 or 89, regular unleaded. I just have a STD 1.5L, and I'll be adding intake, mpfi, and exhaust. That's fine as long as I have the stock engine right?

UPI in New liskeard was offering gas at 99 octane this summer, I filled there but I didn't feel a big diff cause I always tank a 94, so 5 point is big but dosn't feel much on fuel economy!.

It doesnt do anything for you by using a higher octane gas it doesnt clean out deposits it doesnt give you better gas mileage it doesnt have more fuel additives in it. It doesnt really do much for your car unless you start messing with the compression and timing or when your using forced induction read this article quite a bit of good info.

I raced my b16 crx every week for months, and I concluded beyond reasonable doubt that soley switching from 93 Mobil to 94 Sunoco boosted up my car by ~2mph and .3 sec on the 1/4 mile.

91. JDM engines are meant to run on higher octane gasoline, which is much more available there.

higher the octane the slower it burns. more resistant to detonation.
