Default Where to mount x-over boxes in EG

OK I got infinity kappa 6.5" components for up front in my 92 cx hatch. I drilled the holes for the tweeters so they're in there. now I just have two questions;

stock speaker wiring- which is positive/negative, there's a blue wire and a white wire

and the components have cross over boxes, which are 6" long, 4.25" wide, and 1.25" deep. Where can I mount them, and how should I secure them?
I assume put them in the doorpanel somewhere, but I can't find any flat spots for them

www.installdr.com for the wiring schematics.

As far as where to mount the crossovers, you can either put them somewhere in the door in sealed bags and secure them with tape or mount them under the dash (which would be easier if you need to change the crossover points).

mm i can't really adjust them, its just between the drivers and the tweeters. only mids and highs through those, i have kicker solobaric 12's for bass. plus my pioneer 7400 i think it is has filters built in

Typically, passive crossovers have a few adjustments. The most common one is tweeter attuenation. It essentially allows you to select how loud you would like the tweeter in respect to your midbass. I would also suggest that you experiment with the polarity of each of your drivers to find what combo sounds best. Mounting crossovers in the doors makes these types of adjustments very difficult to perform. Unfortunately, if you don't mount them in the doors, you need to run more wire to the doors...that's a pain.

It's a tradeoff...personally, I would never mount them in the doors. If you do go with the door route, typically, you will find that honda doorpanels have some plastic voids where the crossovers will fit. Some double sided tape or some creative screw placement will allow you to mount them.

I have my crossovers connected to a sheet of wood under my drivers side seat. Mine are about 6x4x2. I don't think you are going to get those inside the door.

My wood is bare, but they are not visible anyway. I will paint it someday, maybe.

As rcurley said it is easier to adjust if it is not in the door, but you have to run more wire. For my situation, it worked out much better under the seat.

I have mine mounted under the dash behind the lower console. They fit under the little plastic shroud that goes over the hump and covers the airbag stuff.

mm I'm lazy, don't really want to run wires. a friend of mine just used metal, the kind you can bend, and c clips and put his in his door panel. I think I'm gonna do the same, and wrap the x over in plastic before I put it in

which is positive and negative though, for the white and blue wires? I'd find out eventually I know, but it's easier just to do it this way

Doh! I just finished installing my components in my crx today and put the crossovers in the door panels. I checked the bottom inside there and it was dry as a bone although we got tons of rain the other day. I didnt bother wrapping them in plastic... problem?

EDIT: When I had croxxovers in my del Sol, I just stuffed 'em up under the dash and secured them with tip-ties.

www.teamdelsol.com has an article on running wires through the door to the cabin. I did the same with a little bit of modification.

There shouldn't be any problem. It's really just a precaution, but if you get the chance or need to remove the door panel at any time, you should wrap them.
