i have a Civic Si cluster, and im really not sure what yr Civic Si it came out of. Can you tell what yr it is? 88-89 or 90-91?

The 88,89 are more square than the 90,91's. It would be much easier if you post a pic.

 

Also on the Speedos there different one is made by one company and the other by another compay, would have to look I get them confused. If it has a tach though, the 88-89 the red line is kinda dot matrix while the 90-91 are solid red

look on your cluster really closely
if there is an "NS" at the bottom it's a 90-91
if it's 88-89 it's "NN" i think

 

its pretty easy to tell...

look at the back of the cluster. the 90-91 has 3 plugs whereas the 88-89 only have 2 plugs.

 

Well mine looks like this one in the pic. So im assuming its a 88-89. Thanks for the replies.

 

easiest way to tell is by the seatbelt light.
its small in the 88-89 and large in the 90-91.

 

the first thing i look at to tell the difference is how close the fuel and temp guages are to each other.

 

The 88 cluster is pictured, the 89 has the seatbelt indicator light between the temp and gas gauges. But is shaped like a 88. So, though 88-89 are interchangeable, they look different. Ryan

 

Yeah the one that i have, has the seat belt indicator between the temp/gas.

 

another easy way to tell is that the 88-89 have four screws around the temp and the newer ones dont have any

why do people swap one for the other then?

 

Usually, the people swap out for the Si clusters for their STDs or DXs or HFs.
