hydro lock
don't crank it. Take the spark plugs out and then crank it over. if it's not too late the water will fly out, get new plugs and change your oil and see how things go. If not, time for a rebuild
Once its hydrolocked it will never be the same motor again. Getting enough water to hydrolock it means that something inside is going to be messed up for sure. A rod will be bent more than likely and if not bent then totally broke. I hrydolocked my old H23 and threw a rod out the back of the block. He can drain the motor and get new plugs and everything, it should run if something isnt totally broke inside. But as soon as he runs it hard its gonna break the rod. One will difentally be bent no matter what. He can do what I did, make an insurance claim and get about 2-3 grand. Then get an JDM H22 swap. If i were him i would try to drain it first though, thats what I did, it started up and then it ideled all crazy, then went BOOM!!!!!!!!( seriously sounded like a cannon or something) which was the sound of a rod making about a 3 inch hole in a honda block. Good luck to him
Your motor prob. blew b/c you didn't pull the plugs before trying to crank it. My bud w/ a 240 and AEM CAI hydrolocked his car bad. Kept trying to crank it after it stalled out in a flash flood. Got it towed home, pulled the plugs, drained it, and changed the oil ~4 times and ran it for a few min's each time, and FINALLY got all of the water out. There was roughly 4 gallons of water sucked up! And he pushes that car fairly hard and often and has had no problems since, so your car MAY be completely fine!

We actaully did remove the plugs first. I garuntee your friends 240 has a bent rod somewhere in there. It can still run perfectly fine. But for the most part, when you hydro lock a motor is gone.
ummmm.......sorry you blew your motor dude, and yeah, there's a good chance of seriously screwing your motor up when it hydrolocks, but I guarantee you that you're wrong. It's very possible to not blow your motor.
Dude. I said for the most part, or more than likely when you hydrolock your motor is blown. Sure its possible to not blow it, but when you suck up that much water it usually is blown or is gonn have serious problems.
