Prelude VTEC's 7th speaker not working...
Hey, I've actually had this problem for awhile now but never asked about it. Well I have a 96 Prelude VTEC that has the factory 6x9 speaker between the rear seats that acts as a mini-sub I guess. I put in a new head unit I bought from Circuit City with a harness I bought there too. It's a Sony CDX-CA650X (yeah, not too great) and during radio playback most of the bass comes from the 6x9, but during CD playback it seems like the 6x9 is disabled and all of the bass comes from the two rear 6.5 speakers. There's a noticable difference and I've tried reconnecting the harness and looking thru the menu for some option that might disable the 6x9. Anyways, I'm lost because if the speaker works during radio playback, it's got to be connected correctly right? Any help would be appreciated...

Well if it is not a setting on the radio, then I would look into using an external amplifier to power your speakers. By doing this, you have much more system control as well as sound quality.

Hmm...but I was wondering that since the speaker works with the radio, shouldn't it work with the CD player too? The connection should be fine I guess?
easy. I bet the Power Antenna out is powering the remote turn on line for the amp. We get alot of people comming in with alpine's complaining the amp doesn't work in CD mode. Same deal. The radio is most likely only powering the line in AM/FM mode because that's when the antenna needs to go up, and when you switch to CD the line goes dead since you don't need to have the antenna out. If the radio has a REMOTE OUT wire (blue w/white IIRC.. or was that the power antenna one.. well it's either blue or blue w/white), hook it up to that instead. If it doesn't, you can tag the "remote wire" up to the accessory wire for the radio. Then it will kick on the amp on that speaker whenever the radio can be turned on
Ok, I have a blue wire in the manual that's labelled "ANT REM" and says "max. supply current 0.1A" and a blue wire with a white strip that's labelled "AMP REM" "max. supply current 0.3A". So which one do I connect to the power antenna and how can I hook it up since I'm using a harness that I bought from Circuit City? Is the wire still on the harness and do I just plug in the antenna cord into the thing at the end of the wire? And one more thing, does the antenna go back down if I switch to CD playback? Thanks.

check your PM. you're most likely going to have to jumper the blue wire to the blue w/white (easiest way to connect em), and then it should be on all the time the radio is on. THis will also cuase your power antenna to be up any time the radio is on also.. no biggy.

Hmm, sorry but I'm still really confused so I took a few pictures which might be able to help me put things together...
Well first of all my antenna is directly plugged into the back of the head unit, not to the blue wire. This picture of my stock deck but I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about:

I'm confused because I'm not sure how to hook it up to the blue wire like you said so. The harness I got from Circuit City has both ends of the blue wire going directly into the harness, from the head unit to the stock harness. So I found the harness that came with the head unit and found the blue and blue/white wire you were talking about. Well I'm a little bit more confused because this is what I found:
So guess what I'm really asking is how to hook the antenna up to the blue wire since there are no terminals like this on the Circuit City harness. ANY diagrams or such will help me a lot. Thanks.

ok.. what you need to do is cut the end off of the REM OUT wire and connect it to the blue w/white stripe in the 1720 harness (the harness you got at CC). If there isn't a blue w/white, then just connect it to the blue wire in the CC harness. this *should* kick the amp on whenever the unit is on.
heh awsome! I got your IM but I was logged in on my AT&T cell (awsome phone.. panasonic ProMax, but AT&T sucks ballz) so I couldn't reply. If you come across any other questions, feel free to ask!
Yes, I have another question but I'm not too sure if you can help me on this. So I fixed the 6x9 and now I have to replace my 6.5s that blew out. Well, I'm just not too sure exactly how to get them out, either from the trunk or inside the car.
hmm not sure, but if it's like a 94-97 accord there should be screws under the rear deck you have to take out (well more honestly they are nuts). there are 4 per cover, then the speaker covers lift off, and the screws holding the speakers themselves in are on the top.
