I Need To Build an Engine - What's Best???
OK here are the specifics:
----------------
Car -- 1993 Civic DX HB with Auto Trans
Budget -- $5000 for engine - I have the Auto->Man swap in progress
Goal -- To run high 12s in 1/4 mile - want a street car with reliabilty
Dilemna -- Dont know what what engine to run or whether to use turbo or supercharger or NOS - am willing to use any combination within my budget
Long Term -- Basically I want to build this project to compete with my father on the track, have fun with it for a year, and then buy myself a CTR RHD.
---------------
If anyone can make suggestions based on experience please comment. For those who want to suggest something and have never done it or helped somebody do it please dont respond. Im looking for facts and hard numbers and suggestions from knowledgable people.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I look forward to seeing what you guys suggest.

b18c w/ ctr pistons and cams port and polish with 5 angle on the intake side and 3 angle on the exhaust side of the valves.. good race gas.. and I.H.E. with some cam gears and FPR set at around 48 at idle stock ecu that should get you to 12's.. did for my homeboy... good tire would help too the rest is on your driving..

you're not going to build a 12 sec reliable car for $5k, that will get you an:
LS engine with a basic turbo kit.
GSR engine with nitrous
I wouldnt even think of the b16, it lacks the torque you need.
save a little more and b/c 5k wont get you 12's and still be reliable. unless you spray like 100 shot then you cut down on reliability

Im kinda thinking GSR with a used JRSC. What about engine management? Will it need much standalone stuff?

1. b18c5 swap - 4000
2. skunk2 stage 2 cams and valvetrain - 1000
with it properly tuned, you should be able to get into the 12's easily
