Default what tranny to use on ls/vtec swap

ive got a 93 civic dx m5 and a 94 integra a4. the b18b is gonna go into the civic 4 now with the auto until i get the b16 head, etc. question is, can i bolt the civics 5 speed onto the b18 after i get the b16 head or am i gonaa need an integra tranny?if so, whats recommended?btw, if i can use the civics, would there be much of a problem if i bolted it up b4 i get the b16 head put on, since the cams are different between auto and manual versions.?thanks for the help

no you need and integra tranny, i cant understand everything you wrote but, go for the type r , if you cant afford it then go for a gsr tranny. btw why would it matter if you put the b16 head on as far as trannies are concerned, you still need the integra tranny no matter what head you have

First try to make your posts somewhat coherent. Secondly start hunting for an integra transmission since the civic transmission will not bolt on. All B-series transmissions will bolt on any Bseries motor. As previously mentioned try looking for a transmission with the lowest gearing.

that is all.

lol....NOTHING TO DO WITH CAMS>>>

u need any bseries tranny...(most likely u should get hydro) but i would recomend a b16 with type R LSD....good gearing and good for street...and fairly cheap..run you about 1000 bux...

that's word of wisdom .

yep, your b16 block will bolt to either gsr/si/type-r tranny. no problem.

you mind as well do the tranny swap when you are swapping motors. Makes things alot easier.

you have to decide what you want to do with the car before you decide a tranny to use. for a street driven/highway car use the gsr, its the best all around tranny.

for straight drag racing, go with b16 or type r probably b16 since type r's are $$$

of course all of these should have their respected LSD's in them. cept type r which comes with one already.

1. what was so incoherent about my thread?i have a b18b with an automatic four-speed tranny, hence a4, and a 93 civic dx (d15b7) with a manual 5-speed, hence m5. i just wanted to know what trannies i could use on the b18b.

2. i wanted to wait for the b16 head because i've read that the cams vary between engines with manual or automatic transmissions. i dont know what'll happen if i put the 5-speed on the b18 with the original head/cams.

3. erik aguilar, the guy holding the record for fastest all motor honda, said the gear ratios of the itr's and the b16 are the same, but the itr's has a lsd. whats makes the gsr's different?

4. so i dont be too incoherent, itr means integra type r

if you are a building a race car or project car , im hoping if is fast you gonna drive it fast . i see it liek this ,in a fast car you gonna beat on the tranny and clutch so right noww im gonna use my ls tranny why go get another for now ,once i beat that to death and it grinds every gear im gonna drop a gsr tranny .most of the guys i seen on the track they run stock trannies . i heard the b16 tranny works best with ls v tec i dont live by rumors i have to see it with my own eyes .

thats my opinion
