Default Battery Relocation and SCCA Regs?

I am pondering on picking up a battery relocation kit from summit. My friend has one in his jetta which i helped install and he said he noticed quite a difference. I was wondering if there were any rules against this type of kit in any level of auto-X. If so, what level? This will be my first summer auto-Xing so I will def be starting out in amateurs. Any info would be much appreciated, tia

That would bump you into SP.

What kind of modifications do you have done to your vehicle?

Thank you. My heart just about fell out of my chest at the prospect of being bumped up again.

sp? Modifications suspension wise: GC's w/ AGX's, Ingall's in front, long bolts &washers in back, Front & rr strut bars, Purchased Beaks w/ itr rr sway. going to purchase srr lca's, going to purchase area 51 bar when it comes out... Brake upgrades w/ axxis ult. and some weight loss helpers (CF hood, sans A/C, interior,) i want to stress weight proportion on my vehicle as that is what i care most about almost more than power. Almost. cOULD anybody explain sp? a special category for specially modified cars im assuming, but they have that in amateur class?

Actually you are in SM (Street Modified).

SP stands for (Street Prepared).

Even if you didn't install the battery re-location kit, you would still be in Street Modified because of the carbon fiber hood, camber kit, etc..

You're going to be in a class full of turbocharged Talons, Eclipses, Supras, etc..

Check your local autocrossing website and look at the results from a local autocross. Check out the cars that are in Street Modified. That will give you an idea of what you will be running up against.

What Kirk was trying to say is that relocating the battery to the rear of the car is not going to make that big of a difference with your experience.

Don't bring the attitude in here. There is a wealth of information in this board. Don't abuse it.

AJ is correct, the LCAs and CF hood will bump you to Street Mod. Don't sweat it, go have fun - there are always noobs to run against in SM since it's a very popular class.
