Default power per dollar b18c1 or ls/vtec GOOD SITE FOR INFO ON LS/VTEC!!

would it be better to build my GSR block or the ls block? can i see the same horsepower with my block that i could w/ the ls block, each having the same mods? I want about 230hp and can take a 100 shot of juice.

ls/vtec is stronger than a gsr

Just curious.... what's the basis behind this statement? I too believe Ls/Vtec can be powerful motors, so don't get me wrong, just seems like a broad unsupported answer.
Can your GSR block make the same power as an LS/Vtec with the same mods... well pretty close. Take in to account the LS stroke and in turn a slight bit more of tq/hp, but I'm not sure if it would be worth tossing a reliable VTEC block and doing something different. If you are talking about hitting 230whp all motor and then spraying on top of that... I wouldn't try that. Those are two different worlds there and require the motor to be built differently, especially if you want 230whp. I'd be realistic and hope for 200-215whp after droppin some $$$. Good luck though

when i said 230 i did mean flywheel horses which would be about 200whp.so are you saying that a sleeved block with forged rods and pistons tuned to get about 200whp couldn't take a 100 shot. what if i had an ls block sleeved with ctr pistons could that take the nitrous.

I WOULD APPRECIATE ALOT OF OPINIONS OR SOME DIRECTION ON THE FACTS ABOUT WHAT I NEED TO KNOW.

You're kinda messing with two different motors. Building a good a high compression motor to hit decent whp, and throwing something on that is going to seriously bump the compression. If you throw CTR's in a LS you're already looking at around 12-mid 12:1 C/R, which for a street motor is already getting pretty high for street gas depending where you are.
If you are determined to spray and get the block sleeved, then resleeve to a bigger bore and go with a little more Nitrous friendly compression and have your car tuned for that along with a good fuel system.

what is a nitrous friendly cr. is it close to boost cr. since i cant spray every v8 ***** that needs to boost their ego ( i live in mississippi and there is ALOT of them. even jerks in rusty farm trucks) i would like to have a strong puller around town with a good level of bye bye at the track. it's an 1/8 mile which is why i was looking at the ls/vtec and/or nitrous. stronger of the line than the gsr.

Yeah, nitrous is right along the same lines as boost because it too is F/I . As far as a good c/r.... I honestly can't say. That would be a good question for the Forced Induction forum or a search (i'm sure there are plenty of nitrous related topics). Good luck
Oh yeah, I feel ya though about V8 guys... I live in Texas.
