Default Edelbrock D16 Intake Manifold. Any good?

Anyone know anything about this? I wonder if it will fit in the confines of the CRX engine bay without hitting the firewall.

Manifold for Honda D16 Engines
This new manifold for 1996-00 Honda Civics includes a secondary set of injector bosses for additional fuel requirements in turbo or race applications. The larger-than-stock plenum volume and 9" runner length are tuned for additional power at high rpm, providing excellent power levels throughout the 3000-7500 rpm operating range. The versatile design is ideal for normally aspirated or turbocharged engines. #4756 is 50-state street legal.

Performer X Manifold Part No.
For 1996-00 SOHC V-TEC with unmachined secondary injector bosses 4756
For 1996-00 SOHC V-TEC with machined secondary injector bosses and fuel rail (no injectors) 4757*

I found it in their "New for 2003" page. The runners are much shorter than stock, They just look long because they don't curve up like the stock ones. It says they plenum is even bigger than the Y8 manifold which is kind of nice.

The stock d16 with a fresh rebuild, ported head, mild cam. About 11:1 compression. I think there is some power to be gained with a manifold like this or a D16Y8 manifold.

From what I have heard, there are changes being made to the manifold to make it fit in a Civic Coupe so it wont interfere with the brackets and fuel filter on the firewall. Is there a lot less room between the cylinder head and the firewall on a CRX??

The flange on that manifold will only fit a 96-00 D16 head, but they did mention that one for the earlier head will be coming out after this one is done.

I haven't dynoed the car. I'm running stock pistons and the head was ported by Westcoast Cylinder Heads in Reseda, CA. They do sweet work. Only thing I do for fuel management is my AEM fpr.

my question is how did you get an 11:1 CR with the stock PM6 pistons? cause you would either have to have the head milled like 70 thousanths (don't think thats possible) with a thinner head gasket, or did you have the combustion chambers welded up for a better quench area?

hey exo...whats the price on those bisimoto headers? do they come uncoated and without a bracket to bolt to stock exhaust? just curious. also tell bisi to come out with some of those adapter plates so i could mate an F22 to my L3 tranny. i like torque too.

Bisi's headers are going to run about $599.00
there will be a street and full race header.

The combustion chambers are welded up. The quench area is now shaped like a 4 leaf clover.

Wil,

Those headers look pretty sweet. When do they hit the market? Is their an O2 bung in them?

edelbrock still cant spell vtec huh, "V-TEC". I did see there new victorX manifold for B's and that looks nice, has the injectors placed further away from the head for better fuel atomization (sp?).

Steve, not sure on the O2 bung, its a custom header and not just a straight bolt on. some modifications are required though.

Are you sure about that????

The main fuel injectors are in the same location. I think you are refering to the secondard set up fuel injectors that are available.
