I'm taking a look at an 88 CRX HF tomorrow morning. It has 256K mi. Rust on both rear wheel wells. It also has a rust hole by the dead pedal. I asked him if he has receipts for work on the engine and car, but he said he doesn't cuz he does his own work. He's selling it for $500. I'm basically getting this car to be my daily driver. My round-trip commute is 60 mi. What do you guys think?

 

i would buy it..but then I don't mind doing work on a car..espcially if I got it for $500..

 

Maybe I should take it to a mechanic during my test drive tomorrow so I can ask him to take a look at the engine and the suspension.

 

no, you shoudl take another couplehundred & order a new motor, at least a d16a6. that's a lot of milegae. Honda's can take some abuse, I had a girfreind that drove a CRX to 330,xxx miles before it crapped out. but a new a6 is only a couple hundred bucks, and you'll likely spend at least $100 on a mechanic review. just my $.02

 

yeah just pick it up and put a crap motor in for now at least or upgrade if u got the dough

i bought my running hf with no rust for 700, just had to replace clutch and one axle

 

with a 60 mile drive i wouldn't do anything but change oil in it, and maybe a timing belt. that car will save you big $$ in fuel. mine gets 43. mine has 166K and sounds like a new one.
